LOL! That was great. Of course, in regards to DB's comment, I'm sad
to report that there is a Pong category on ff.net and it currently has
67 stories (I use that term loosely). I can't quite figure out how it
managed to beat Asteroids (only 7 entries) and Bubble Bobble (with a
disappointing 1), but there you go. Yay for ff.net and all the
unrecognized fandoms it supports! <cough>sarcasm<cough> ^_^

Video Games: Really need some sort of sci-fi/anime/fantasy element.

cant grasp it, but even if it could be done, no.
Unless, of course, one adds a sci-fi/anime/fantasy element, right?

Left. Right. Block, bounce - and watch the angle.
An ancient soul. An ancient warrior, willing to fight for any cause.
Its first life was mere sport, pitted against a clone of itself. Score
kept accumulating, at first with no end, and no point. Sometimes there
would be a score limit, and one or the other would win - but then the
scores would reset, and life went on.
Then it landed in jail, and its ball became a weapon. Destroy the
fortification that limited its movement - and don't lose the ball to
the netherworld behind it. To lose the ball was to die, a little bit.
Eventually things moved into space, where it acquired powers - all too
temporary, but mostly useful in aiding its task of demolition.
Then its task shifted to defense. The ball was replaced with an
incoming hostile projectile - block and send back, lest the one who
wielded it be injured. It sensed its opposite number in the hand of
the one who cast the projectile...and over there, a third of its kind,
fated to play no role in this particular bout...

Zelda blinked at the Triforce of Wisdom, glowing within her hand, as
Link and Ganon batted energy spheres back and forth. Why was the
Triforce thinking, "Just like old times"?
