I read the prologue when it was first posted a long long time ago, and
missed the first chapter, so I didn't remember that Akane had been named
outright in an earlier posting. But the name "Crimson", coupled with Ranma's
presence, makes it pretty blatant who this is.

Actually I think that's a weakness of the writer. We don't really need
Crimson's true identity spelled out for us any more than we need to be
told that Luke has some kind of familial relationship to Darth Vader.
Any Ranma fanfic reader will twig to it just from the description, and
it won't mean anything to a Star Wars fanfic reader who knows nothing
about Ranma. The author should give us some credit. On the remote
chance that a Ranma reader won't recognised the crazed manhater as being
Akane, I'm sure she'll tell Ranma later when she succumbs to his charms
after he gives Soul of Ice a rest.

She shook her head in scornful disbelief. As far as
the Twi'lek was concerned, this was part of the reason
why the Jedi were so easily deceived by Emperor
Palpatine during the death of the Old Republic. Their
teachings against guile, anger, hatred, everything of
the Dark Side was a very significant weak spot in
their training.

Well mostly guile.

Do the Jedi really teach against guile, anyway?

Well they discourage lying. Close enough from the biased point of view
of a dark side stealth monster.
