Heavens to Megatroit!
Gee, Elsa, I didn't mean to wake you with all my ruminations, over here.
Sorry if I interrupted any good dreams. :)
I have to admit, I'm getting a real kick out of this whole fuss, even if it
does seem to be dying down a little, now. So many people I used to know are
coming out of the woodworks that I am completely awash in nostagia. I've
seen Alan Harnum, and Rob Barba, and Krista (formerly Perry) Fisk, and Mike
Loader... I tell you, if we were all here in person, I would need to start
collecting autographs.
Considering that you are the reason I even began to write fanfics at all,
feel free to consider yourself the icing on this particular cake, Elsa. Just
be warned that it *does* mean people will hold you responsible when I
inevitably decline into madness. ^_^
I've gotten used to the fact that I can let the e-mails tagged with FFML to
stay in the Inbox folder while I could go through them after, you know, a
month or so
Yeah, I know what you mean. I kind of like to take the time and really think
about what I am going to say when I respond to someone. The downside, of
course, is that sometimes I wait too long and forget to actually do it. If
nothing else, I'm going to use this little panic as a lesson that I should
be striking while the iron is hot. There are a lot of people who I have been
meaning to C&C, and from now on I'm going to have to start doing it as soon
as the urge strikes me, instead of procrastinating.
and hand out a "nice work" ego-stroke e-mail to an author of a
fic I liked, though I sometimes forget to do that.
It's okay, Elsa: we forgive you. You've been very busy working on your *own*
fic... RIGHT? :)
I just got lazy so a big shout-out to Ben
Oliver, Morgan Hudson,
Yay! I'm number two! ^_^
Mark Mackinnon, Rick Lawson (who wrote that funny
little BSG/Ranma spamfic), DB Sommer (who I really should be sending lots
of
ego-stroking for the marvelous Avenging chapters) and Adrian Tymes (who
should be declared the official FFML Kami for managing to write the most
wonderful spamfics about totally random stuff).
I completely agree. Almost all of these people produce top-quality stuff, so
good that they probably do not recieve the credit they deserve for it. We
tend to assume that they are so awesome, they don't need any of us to tell
them how cool they are.
Except for me, of course. Elsa only stuck me in there because she knew it
would leave me giggling like a schoolgirl just to be mentioned. ^_^
As for me, please do not look at me. Pay no attention to the woman behind
the curtain who is awfully behind in her fics -
Keep up that false modesty, young lady, and I will be forced to write a
lemon just to drag you into commenting on it. :P
fics she should finish
before she dies or the hungry hounds of the hundred hells ask her why the
heck she didn't finish them.
Or worse - the Shadow. Without you around, our good Mister Cranston gets
almost no face time on the FFML at all.
BTW, did I mention how much I liked that cross-over you were doing with SM
and the Shadow? If you were to write some more of that, it would be very
neat. :)
Plus, Livejournal and the
internet is an evil, tentacled thing that eats your free time so you don't
have time to write
This I agree with. It seems like at least three or four times a chapter, I
wind up taking a guided tour of the internet. Sure, it always *starts* with
research for something in my story, but the next thing I know I'm perusing
webjournals and posting articles on the Transformers Wiki about the
historical importance of Targetmasters. >_<
It's nice to see that there are actual people still out there - thought
they'd unsubscribed.
Yeah, the ol' list has been a little sleepy of late. Hopefully we'll be able
to find a way to keep it awake again. The real test will come when people
stop commenting on how few fics there are, and start trying to fill the
void. It's going to be up to everybody to C&C and encourage each other.
(scratches head) I know we *used* to have a knack for it....
So, in the spirit of keeping my fanfic street cred, I will start posting
again.
Hooray! :)
Soon.
Hmmm... a qualifying statement. Troubling. Nonetheless, I stand by my
earlier excited utterance. ;)
Plus, I'd like to inform everybody that I'm still a member of that ye olde
FFML institution that I've now conveniently forgotten the name of - all I
remember is that we promised to review a fic if you sent an e-mail to me.
So, if *I* send you an e-mail, will I get a C&C? Or would that be asking a
bit much? :)
Hmm. I'm replying a little late to this - there's probably a line by now.
Should I take a number?
So
any takers, just drop a line and I'll post a review of your fic on the ML,
unless you want a private review. That is if you _really_ _really_ want me
to get my hands on your fic.
Admit it - you were totally swamped with requests, like, three seconds after
you posted this, weren't you? ;)
Sooooooo, is my cred good again or something?
Never lost your cred with me, Elsa. You write it, and I'll read it: every
time. I'll even do my best to comment on it.
Also, I like the FFML the way it is - a mailing list, just to keep that
old-time feel of fanfic Russian Roulette every time I open a post by a new
writer. It keeps the riffraff out, at the very least - not that kept me out
but at least they get broken faster.
Heh. You do know that I blame you for making Haruka my favorite Sailor
Senshi, right? :)
Aw, nuts. I always promised I wouldn't let people know which characters are
my favorites. Oh, well.
Great, now I posted something and I said I wasn't going to post until
everyone's calmed down. Crap.
I made the same promise when this whole thing started, and then I wound up
getting caught in the undertow anyway. At least nobody's started flaming
anybody, or anything. Most of the message boards I go to would have
degenerated into insults or immaturity after this long a debate. I think we
can be proud of ourselves for that.
Later!
