Way back when, Original stories were posted here on occasion, they were 
tagged with [orig].

No one caused an uproar when that occurred. That being said, I never saw 
public C&C posted for those original stories so I can't say how 
effective posting it here was either.

I suspect that there are two reasons people don't do C&C on original work:
1- This is a FANfiction mailing list. People are looking for expansion 
to an existing series they love
2- People don't want to run into the situation where they do lots of C&C 
work on someone's story, then the author turns around and publishes, 
making a ton of cash, leaving the people who helped out with the story 
feeling used.
