Excellent commentary, and I appreciate Nabiki being the times about
something as commonplace as "DVDs." It certainly puts our hobby, and this
particular series, in perspective.

Hit a bit too close to home, though. Ouch. When Nabiki said she had been
stuck in an elevator for 13 months, I felt _somebody_ go stabbity-stab with
a blunt knife all over my back. I know exactly where you (and Nabiki) are
coming from, and I sympathize all to easily.

Hell, I have half a mind to write my own tete-a-tete with a character from
any of my unfinished stories --Ranko or Phaeron from Song of the Phoenix
come to mind. You see, I've had that particular story in my head for eleven
years now, and it's been at least six since I've written anything new about
it.

On the one hand, I can't deny I'm guilty of procrastination and a tendency
to plan things so far in advance I hardly get any writing done. On the
other, both Real Life as well as a dwindling interest in fanfiction have
dampened my spirits somewhat. I could easily blame the relative lack of
commentary on my more recent fic (an Azumanga crossover,) but that would be
a disservice and an insult to the poor prereaders I left hanging with the
SotP revision. Sadly, while I have oodles of ideas for feasible fanfics for
various series (Azumanga, Last Exile, Nausicaa, Dark Chronicle, Planetes,
and even Katamari Damacy for a touch of lunacy) not only have I failed to
put any of them in writing, this is also the farthest I've ever been from my
own dream of writing original stories... and that's extremely depressing.

Maybe I should take this discussion on list traffic as a wake-up call. I've
already committed myself, speaking with Lurker over AIM, to getting back to
_writing_ for my unfinished fics as soon as I get over my certification
exams, even if my previous audience has moved on to other things. I owe it
to them, as well as to the stories themselves, to finish them.
