As soon as she recalled those events, her head flared up once again
in pain. "ACK! Ow, ow, ow!" Writhing in pain, she fell off her bed
and landed on her
face, which made it worse.
% Yes, landing on one's face tends to make head pains worse.
Unless you, like, regenerate from sudden blunt trauma, but yeah.
Like chunks of a badly frayed jigsaw puzzle,
% you know, I can't picture a jigsaw puzzle fraying.
The individual pieces can fray when they've been used excessively. A favorite
puzzle's pieces might have their layers break up, their edges worn off, hence
fraying.
"The First Harbinger of Destruction," absently repeated the girl.
"How nice! Can you please grind up my head so it'll stop hurting?"
"WITH PLEASURE!!"
% Heh
A nod to the classic series. ^^
The blonde grinned. "Oh, there's no need to worry about having to
think today.
It's not like we're going to have a pop quiz or anything, right?"
Haruna-sensei walked in with a great big smile plastered all over
her face. "Hello, class! Guess what? Today, we're starting off
with a nice pop quiz!
% It's Usagi's fault for jinxing them.
Oh, yes. There's quite a bit of jinxing going on in this story.
Mostly, it's a
convenient, cheap, no-frills way of foreshadowing.
"You're done?!" asked Naru. "I haven't even written my name down yet!"
Terra snapped her fingers. "I knew I forgot something." She wrote
her name at
the top of the quiz and held it up again. "Done! For real, this time."
% Heh
Terra's become incredibly smart, very quickly. Unfortunately, she
doesn't quite
know what to do with her brain yet.
"Nooo, your initials. R.B.?"
"Oh, R.B.?" The ArbyFish thought about it. "Roast Beef!"
% I thought as much.
'Course! Wouldn't be proppa' if it wasn't.
"A'course! Ya gots ta 'ave paperwork. Wot'd th' pencil pushers do if we
didn't?"
% Too true
In-deed!
Arby squinted at her. "Oh, not payin' for me services?" He
started to looked
angry and folded his flippers defiantly. "Foine, then ya gets 'em
for free!"
"Er, what if I don't want them?"
"That'd cost extra."
% Ah, illogical logic. Gotta love it. Trademark of your brand of humor.
ArbyFish humor, at least. Illogical reasoning wrapped with the stamp and seal
of bureaucracy. ^_^
"And what's this about running around in a miniskirt, fighting evil?"
% Yeah. As Brackgaugh would say, prance around in skimpy leather armor
and a giant serrated sword that can disembowel anything. That's the look
for the magical girl of the new millenium.
In-deed! Why, a girl would never get taken seriously as a fighter unless she
pranced around in a miniskirt and such!
In anime, at least. They always get underestimated when they're not using
miniskirts as battlegear. I mean, they even take whatsherface in Airmaster
seriously. They might not say it, but it's because she's in a miniskirt.
Maybe. ^^;
Thanks for reviewing these, DB!
