Here's the second part. I've been meaning to post this as well :) Being a
slacker really sucks sometimes.

Enjoy!

A New Life Chapter 2
----------------------------------------------------

"Welcome aboard flight 223 to Tokyo, Japan. This is
your captain speaking. We have clear skies and our
estimated flight time is 1 hour 45 minutes. Please
relax and enjoy the flight."

Ranma half listened to the captains' speech. He just
relaxed in his seat, reflecting on the last few
years.

'It's been a rough trip so far but I've loved every
minute of it.' Ranma though. 'I'd never give up those
years for anything.'

Over the past ten years, Ryuu took Ranma all over the
world. The entire time Ranma was learning new things,
not just Martial Arts. Ranma was now fluent in
Chinese, Japanese, English, and French. He was also
years ahead of everyone his age in almost every
subject in school, especially in math and science.
Ryuu pushed Ranma through a rigorous training course
that not only strengthened his body but his mind as
well.

Ryuu's words echoed in his mind. "A strong man can
win fights, but a wise man can avoid a fight and
bring about an outcome that is impossible if there is
a fight."

Even though Ryuu stressed brains over brawn, though
he never neglected Ranma's body. He trained every
day, slowly getting stronger, faster, and more
flexible. Ranma was easily stronger then almost
anyone his own age.

While Ryuu built his mind and body, Kaia began
training Ranma in the mystical arts. In the few years
that Kaia had trained him, Ranma could sense most
forms of energy and magic. He still have yet to do
anything more powerful then lift a feather a few
inches, but Kaia assured him that with time, he would
learn to do more "flashy magic".

Ranma idly played with a silver pendant that was
recently given to him. It was a gift from Kaia, a
ying-yang with two small gems in. Kaia had crafter
this gift to ease the problems that came with his new
Jusenkyo curse.

A New Life Chapter 2
By: Dev Hunt
"Memories can be both a boon or bane to you depending
on how you look at it."

It was only a few months back; Ranma and Ryuu were
traveling around, looking for the legendary Chinese
Amazons. They were hoping to see the spring festival
and the Amazon tournaments. It would be a great
experience for Ranma to observe the unique fighting
styles of the Jusendo Tribe. (1)

Observation of other warriors was key to the Kakugari
school of Rising Dragon martial arts, the school that
Ryuu founded. He believed that if you could observe a
fighting style in use, you could analyze it and find
a way to beat it. Ranma might also pickup a few
tricks along the way.

Ryuu also knew all about the Musk Dynasty and their
ongoing war with the Amazons. For years, Ryuu had
been friends with the Amazon Matriarch Cologne. He
had great respect for the tribe and their women
fighters.

When they came across an Amazon hunting party that
had been ambushed by a Musk war party, Ryuu and Ranma
joined helped the amazons. There were 3 Amazons and
30 Musk fighters and one of the amazons had just went
down when Ranma and Ryuu joined the fight.

---

"Perfume!" Shampoo called out to her fallen comrade
as she slumped to the ground. She again cursed her
luck of running across this war party, and wished for
the hundredth time that she brought along more then
her two closest friends on this hunt. Shampoo could
easily defeat a single Musk warrior, possibly even
two, but with ten to one odds, this fight was not
going to end well now that perfume had been knocked
out.

Shampoo broke off from her current cluster to make a
mad dash to Perfume's side. A musk warrior was
towering over Perfume's prone form, about to thrust
his knife into her chest. "No! Perfume!" She
screamed, know that she was to far away to stop the
final blow that would end her friends' life.

Time slowed down for the Amazon warrior. The musk's
blade was already plunging downward and Shampoo was
nowhere near him. Her friend Hairspray was
desperately trying to stay alive and couldn't help.
Shampoo knew that she wasn't going to make it. Her
friend was going to die, there was nothing she could
do. She just couldn't move fast enough.

"Energy spike!"

>From the bushes, a blast of golden energy shout out
and blasted the man away from Perfume. As he crashed
into a nearby tree, the combatants broke off as two
people emerged from the foliage. Shampoo's other
friend, Hairspray, to the opportunity to join up with
Shampoo who was checking to see if Perfume was all
right.

"Now this is interesting." The older of the pair
said. "Here are 30 Musk fighters attacking 3 Amazons.
10 to 1 odds don't seem all that fair don't you
think?"

"This is none of your concern." one of the Musk spoke
up. "Leave and you won't get hurt."

The older one took off his heavy backpack as his
companion did the same. "I'm afraid I can't do that
boys. You see, I'm a fan of heroics and really hate
unfair fights. Besides, I'm an ally to the amazons
and it would look bad if I stood idly by and let them
get hurt." The older man said as they moved to stand
by the battered Amazons.

"Hey you two," the young boy whispered in mandarin.
"get your friend, we're going to run for it."

"I don't take orders from men." Shampoo spat back.

"Even when they're saving your lives?" The boy asked.

Shampoo remained silent as Hairspray picked Perfume
up. She couldn't believe this man was giving her
orders. Besides, she was the best fighter in the
village. Why should she listen to a weak little man?

"Ranma, escort these women back to their village,"
the older man said, "I'll be along shortly." He then
started walking toward the gathered musk warriors,
with a look of complete confidence.

When the amazons didn't move, the young man grabbed
both of them and stated pulling them away. "Move
girls, we don't want to be around when this fight
starts."

Shampoo shot a glare towards this...this... weakling.
"Remove your had from me, unless you want me to keep
it." How dare he tell her what to do, even if he was
right. Let the old fool get himself killed he would
give them enough of a head start to reach the safety
of the village. All she needed to do was find a good
place to ditch him.

"Fine... you're funeral." Ranma said as he let go of
Shampoo. Hairspray was more then happy to leave the
field and took off with Ranma running from the fight.
Shampoo followed after a moment when the musk
attacked to older man.

The small group ran quickly and quietly, Shampoo
quickly taking the lead. Instead of heading strait
for the village, Shampoo decided to take a little
side trip. The boy would learn to respect an Amazon
when in their domain. After a few minutes of time
they broke through the trees into a clearing. Shampoo
took a look around and smiled. They were on a cliff
that overlooked the valley of Jusenkyo.

"Where are we?" The boy asked. He seemed distracted
by something.

"We follow this valley north and we reach our
village. So shut up and follow." Shampoo moved to
stand by the boy. She would only have one chance to
get rid of this boy as he was distracted by the
spring.

"That's not what I asked."

When the boy looked back at the springs Shampoo
acted. She grabbed his shirt and started to throw him
over the ledge. She put all of her strength into
laughing the boy into the air. When Shampoo let go,
she was surprised to find herself being pulled along
with the boy. Out of desperation, he was able to grab
onto her wrist while being flipped. Shampoo quickly
twisted he body and slammed her feet into the boys
gut. His desperate hold loosened and he lost his hold
on her.

Gravity soon came back into effect and the pair
plummeted towards the valley floor. There was a few
seconds of screaming before two loud splashes ended
the screams.

Shampoo felt her body shrink and change as she
morphed into her new form. She struggled to get out
of the clothes that now were several hundred sizes to
big for her. As the caretaker of Jusenkyo fished her
out of the spring, she started to realize what spring
she has fallen into. She was now a cat, with purple
and white hair, paws, whiskers, and a tail. She sank
her head in shame but still smiled knowing she wasn't
the only victim today. The stupid boy was now a girl,
now he may show some respect for the fairer sex.

-----

"This is your captain speaking. I have turned off the
seatbelt sign and you are now free to move about the
cabin. Please keep seat belts fastened when seated,
for the plane may shift unexpectedly, thank-you."

Ryuu and Kaia had caught up with him later at the
caretakers' hut. He was relieved that the curse
wasn't permanent, but was slowly realizing the
implications of such a curse. After a few jokes about
new experiences and a speech about being more
careful, Kaia had come to the rescue.

She constructed the pendent to help control the
curse. It would be difficult to blend in when he
suddenly changed into a good-looking redhead every
time it rained. Even with the pendent, he wasn't in
full control of the curse. It relied on him staying
in his female form for extended period of time. Kaia
explained that if he stayed in his male form too
long, the pendent would loose it effectiveness until
he returned to the "cursed form" to recharge it. This
was a after a five hour lecture on the mechanics of
the curse and how it effected the body. Ranma only
understood about half of it, but he knew Kaia would
explain it better over the next few years.

Ranma sighed as he left that particular memory and
looked over to his friend, teacher, and traveling
companion. Ryuu was quietly reading some magazine
that seemed to barely hold his interest. Ranma had
always wondered how different his life would have
been if he never met Ryuu. He'd probably be dead by
now. Without a guardian after the Neko-ken accident,
he'd most likely starve to death.

A few years back, Ranma changed families to become
Ryuu's adopted son. He now called himself Ranma
Kakugari. It was necessary to allow him to go to
public school for a few years. Since the Neko-ken,
Ranma had returned to Japan for only two years to
take the first portion of middle school and take the
high school entrance exams. When he was accepted to
Himoto High School, Ryuu was able to get the entrance
pushed back a year to take Ranma through China and
other parts of South-east Asia. Ryuu wanted Ranma to
get through High school and College before another
tour of the world. Ranma was looking forward to
settling down again.

With the new last name came the skills of the Rising
Dragon School of martial arts. Ryuu taught Ranma
everything he could in the short time he had. Over
the last few years, Ranma slowly mastered the basics
of the school. He had yet to learn any of the special
techniques but those would come when he was ready.

The Rising Dragon School was based on the user
controlling every aspect of their body. A master
could control everything from breathing and heart
rate to neural impulses.

Ranma was taught how to make himself look weaker and
less skilled. This was to fool any enemy of his true
strength. Besides, it was easier to blend in when you
weren't the most powerful fighter in the area. Strong
fights seemed to always attract problems like
locusts.

It would be nice to make new friends. While in middle
school, Ranma practiced his social skills and was
able to make some friends. He was hoping that he
might run into them when he started school.

Kaia had been a good sensei when it came to dealing
with others. Even with spending most of her time in
her preferred cat form, she had a unique view of
humans with advice for almost any situation. She was
currently in a human form, sitting next to Ryuu.

It was in a small clearing in the Africa portion
their journey that Kaia began Ranma's magical
training. It had been only a few years, before middle
school, but Ranma still remembered the teachings.
Mainly because Kaia touched on them every practice.

Life, the universe, and everything we associate with
reality is constructed of three energies; Material,
Spiritual, and Magical. Each with their own behaviors
and each effecting the other.

The easiest to interact with is the Material energy.
It is the "stuff" of the universe, the physical
constructions that are made up of neutrons, protons,
and electrons. This energy is ruled by the properties
of matter and scientists have discovered how to
accomplish feats of wonder with this energy.

Spiritual energy is the energy of life. Others have
named it many things, ki, chi, spirit, mana. They all
define the same thing, life. Life and Spiritual
energy go hand in hand, there can't be one without
the other.

Magical energy comes from existence itself. The
universe was born from magic and is flows through
everything. This is one of the most difficult
energies to manipulate and is very subtle in its'
effect of normal, everyday life.

All of the energies interact in a circular manner
that results in existence. Material effects
Spiritual, Spiritual effects Magical, and Magical
effects Material. It's like a giant game of Rock-
Paper-Scissors, except using energy. Take for
example, a martial arts technique called a ki-blast.
Most believe that it's the ki from a person that is
the weapon, when in fact magic is what harms your
opponent. You Ki is what controls the magic to create
the ball of energy. Your body creates the Ki that is
used as a structure to hold magic that is then thrown
at your enemy. When the ball impacts, the magic
explodes, damaging the physical matter around it.

Kaia's was there to teach Ranma how to harness his Ki
so he can gain access to the magic around him. Ryuu
would teach him to control his body, strengthen his
Ki, and educate his mind. Together, Ranma would
experience reality in new and unique ways.

Ranma loved it and couldn't wait to reach the next
level of his training, but for now, he had to wait
until he landed in Japan.

Good things come to those who wait.

::Author's notes::
(1) I think it's Jusendo but I'm not 100% positive.

Wow again, I was able to really rework this one in
such a short time. I have found that my muse loves a
particular coffee shop about an hour away from my
home. I think I'll continue to stop by here when I
can to get some more writing done. Who knows, I might
get this piece finished sometime in this lifetime.
