The technique seems to work very well for putting a very sober tone (and 
so lending an
amazing credibility) to matchups, and conceits, which would strain (or 
disrupt entirely)
credibility otherwise.  So it warrants keeping around in your back 
pocket, just in case
you get a sudden irresistable midnight urge to write "Serial Experiments 
Azumanga" or
"Paranoia Agent Negima" as anything other than a spamfic.
