I didn't say I was going to write it... I actually said
I'd prefer not to... don't really have the time. Reading
the prologue and wondering what did this to Ranma gave
rise to the idea that it could have been Asakura Hao and
Spirit of Fire.

What I suggested as a possible fic for the author or
anyone else (which OBVIOUSLY means to ask the author
first... I have been reading and C&C'ing fics for enough
years to know this) to not use this prologue as is, but
instead use it somewhat as a base to build what is
probably a very different fic than what the author has in
mind now. At this point we have little is any idea as to
what actually happened and what characters will make an
appearance in the present. The only thing really being
carried over is what gave me the idea... Ranma trying to
defend Akane and both of them being run through by Spirit
of Fire and Asakura Hao laughing manically. After that...
everything can be quite different than what the author has
laid out here. The whole "beast" imagery, Ranma in a
different school and home... his overal thoughts and
feelings... they don't necessarily have to be used for the
new fic. So while *I'd* ask the author and give credit
for being inspired for the new fic by this prologue... in
the end it really doesn't have to bare much resemblance to
it at all.

Excuse me, but you may want permission from the
AUTHOR before making
such a request as this. He may not even have heard
of Shaman King (I know I
haven't myself) and he probably already has plans
for this.

Sky - Prologue

Interesting prologue, but I feel like we need to
know a
little more about the characters... the school.
Not much
descriptions of them, so I am having a hard time
picturing
them in my mind's eye.

Also... you know... this could be the beginning of
a good
Ranma 1/2 / Shaman King fic... it'd be the first
I've seen
if anyone did it. I7m not quite up to writing a
fanfic
yet I think... maybe as partners with someone, but
not on
my own yet. Either way the idea is kinda like
that beast
that attacked and wiped everyone out was Asakura
hao and
Spirit of Fire... why was the Nerima crew fighting
him?
If the Shaman fight is over what is Hao doing
here? As
can be assumed ni the anime, he didn't die at the
end of
the fight... These questions and more to be
answered by
anyone who wants this fic idea...

White Clouds in the Blue Sky

Ranma 1/2 and its characters are the creation

property of Rumiko
Takahasi.

Prologue - Beast

"Don't die."

Ranma remembered those words, but not who said
them.

He felt an ache in his chest, where... He opened
his
eyes, running his hand
over his chest. There was no wound. It wasn't
sticky
with blood.

He pushed himself to his knees, looking down at
his
body.

Had he just been dreaming? He pressed his hand
to
his chest, and then
brought it to before his eyes so he could look
at
his palm.

There was no blood. Had it been a dream? Had he
dreamed everything?

He looked around. He found himself in a field,
covered over by flowers. So
many colours.

There was a wind. Warm. Gentle.

And the sky. Blue. But not the blue he always
imagined it to be, but the
real sky blue that always surprised him whenever
he
looked up. He had always
felt it should be softer than it truly was.

"You won't die. I won't let you."

Ranma remembered those words, but he couldn't
remember who said them.

There was a sudden, terrible ache in his head.
He
grabbed it, screaming.

He then opened his eyes.

The night had been hard. Ranma barely remembered
getting to school, he'd
been so tired.

He'd also been numb, but that was the way he
usually
felt now. Numb and
cold.

Bad dreams. He must've woken up at least three
times
last night.

His hand ran over his chest. The scar almost
felt
alive sometimes.

He said, after being prompted by the teacher,
"My
name is Ranma Saotome.
I've just moved here from Nerima." He was then
shuffled off to a desk beside
a girl, behind a guy, both of who watched him
with
curious fascination.

Thankfully, neither asked him any questions. And
the
teacher didn't bother
him.

He probably wouldn't have acted well if anything
had
bothered him, because
of the beast riding on his back.

It sapped his strength. Fed him dark, disturbing
thoughts. And he couldn't
get rid of it.

It wasn't really a beast. It wasn't really
there. It
didn't really exist.

But Ranma knew he wasn't himself lately. And he
wasn't feeling very strong
anymore. And the beast was so heavy.

His mind... Sometimes he forgot things, and not
just
the usual things he
didn't bother to remember. It was anything,
everything. Even the past that
he thought important was going, disintegrating
into
dust in his now brittle
mind.

'Falling apart. Turning into something not
real.'
Ranma stared at his desk.
He knew he should've really been listening to
