I actually have been considering doing it as an original story, and while it 
would free me from certain constraints imposed by fanfiction, it also negates 
the fun of bending/breaking those same constraints while staying as true to 
the source as possible...something, (at the risk of sounding immodest) I seem 
to excel at.

On the other hand, I've been wanting to post a original piece to the list for 
quite some time now, but the idea of someone stealing it out of an archive 
stays my hand.
