Just a few comments on the comments (actually a lot
of comments, looking down at them now. There are
some legitimate concerns and questions down there
but quite a few turned out to be rants of mine.
You have been warned. Feel free to not go through
the muck):

1. First off, I just wanted to share my amusement about
having received this much attention on this particular
story. I just finished writing and posting the 12th
chapter of a pure MKR story (the whole thing now spanning
approx. 170 pages) on the FFML a few days ago and not
received a single comment on that so far. And I happen to
think I did a much better job with that one too. It's
actually no surprise. What is surprising is that quite
a few of you do know about MKR and who Hikaru Shidou is.
You know where I'm getting at.

2. I do plan to continue writing this story since it
turned out to be fun. Although not the first Ranma story
I've written, it's the first one I've posted. This one,
by the way, was started by my 9-year-old daughter, which
I spruced up a bit (okay, a lot). Before I continue, I have
a question to the FFML at large: does one rewrite the current
chapter of their story, weeding out the inadequacies based
on accepted comments? Or does one just blaze through and
rewrite after the whole thing is done?

3. I realize now that "breaking some rules" just to
negotiate a story around the characters isn't acceptable
and I feel sufficiently "castigated". Thank you for your
comments. I did ask for the kid gloves off so excessive
apologies for being bitchy was not necessary. I'm in
this to improve my craft so those "hey great story please
continue" comments I get on FF.net doesn't cut it for me.

4. I don't know about you guys, but I always thought a
goddess (even though not the omnipotent kind) beats a regular
human (albeit with supreme martial arts expertise) hands down.
I've already made a decision as to who loses the bet in the
story. I just get the distinct feeling that if it's not
Ranma, I'm really going to get flamed. Besides, the story
isn't about who wins, but about what happens when you put
two "forces of nature" together in a volatile situation.

5. Finally, I know a bit of karate and but I'm more of a "street
fighter" (at least in my younger days) so let me tell you
that there are ways that a run-of-the-mill pugilist can use
to get a punch or two, or even three, through to a martial
artist (my brother was one such person). True, Hikaru isn't a
pugilist but imagine if you will, someone like her who already
has quick reflexes from her regular "human" training as a kendoka,
sprinkle it with some "live fire" battle experience and infuse it
with some goddess power. Any takers?

Well, just as I said earlier, my "few comments" turned out
to be quite the opposite. Those of you who've gotten this far,
well, I won't apologize...you could have pressed Delete long
before this :).
