This story is for Anand Rao, in hopes that it only answers some
of his questions. ;)
Aw, thanks, Vince! I haven't received a gift this nice since Christmas!
>From my point of view, this story was about Kasumi. I'm sure that comes as
quite a shock. :)
At any rate, Vince, I remember way back when AMAW was first released and I
harassed you about one particular plot point, namely, why would Kasumi agree
to the situation in which you placed her. I didn't realize it at the time,
but *not* hitting us over the head with an answer worked better than
anything else could have.
Compromising Situations worked perfectly.
You, or rather, the other characters, presented so many possible motivations
as to why Kasumi would agree to marry Ranma.
To Shampoo, it's about his looks and body. To Nabiki, it's about property,
money, and power. To Ranma, it was perhaps something his mother instigated.
All of these things could be true. Kasumi, herself alludes to certain
things.
As written in the manga, Kasumi is a fairly one dimensional character. She
is trained to be the prototypical old school japanese housewife, and nothing
else. Marrying Ranma would allow her to succeed at what she was trained to
do. Up until then, she was a housewife who wasn't married and didn't have a
house. Her family was no help to her, ever, and then this opportunity
arose. She grabbed it, quick as possible.
Excellent story, Vince. You're painting a great picture for us, and I can't
wait to see more.
-Anand
