(I don't think this topic is *quite* spam yet.)

Hair color in anime- or manga- based fanfics, to me, depends
on the series.  Examples:

Tenchi Muyou:  the girls are aliens.  They can believably
have any hair color at all.

Ranma 1/2:  everybody in the series is supposed to be able to
pass for normal Japanese on the street.  Various plot points
depend on everybody having the same (black) hair color, most
notably female Ranma.

While I won't bother extending this kind of argument to other
series (in some, notably SM, I'm not sure how 'blonde' makes
any sense), the application to this particular story is clear:
while using goofy hair colors IN OTHER SERIES might be easily defended,
and possibly to be recommended, using goofy hair colors in RANMA
stories simply raises unnecessary questions in the reader's minds:
"but how can Ranma fool Ryouga with his disguises is she's a
red-head?"  "Why would a purple-haired girl think of herself as
Chinese at all?"
