Okay, Doug, I'll fess up. You got the full effect here. What
with the recent spate of Onna-Ranma/Ryoga fics on ff.net, my
kids being noisy in the background, and me hungrily anticipating
the pizzas in the oven, I didn't get the matchup until the very
last line, and had to reread the story to get its mythical
significance. So color me distracted; the story worked, and it
wasn't pure spam because the characters actually amounted to
something while I was reading.

Hope this qualifies you for your merit badge.
