Subject: [FFML] Famous Authors Series & other fic ideas

While cleaning my computer in preparation for upgrading to Word 2002, I
came across a bunch of old fic ideas I came up with last year when I was
doing "U-Jin's Ranma Diaries." The premise is simple, what if a famous
American writer wrote an anime series. Here's what I came up with back
then:

"T is for Tendo" by Sue Grafton- California-based P.I. Kinsey Millhone is
hired by California Fidelity Insurance to seek out the missing heir to a
vast fortune. The trail leads to Nerima and Akane Tendo, who is actually an
illigitimate daughter raised by Soun. Things become complicated when Akane
is murdered and the list of suspects includes the most bizarre group of
martial artists the world has ever seen. Good thing Kinsey has her usual
array of wisecracks to keep her sane.

^_^;;

Not that I'm for or against a fic where Akane dies, I'm kind of
currious as to why you chose her. After all, it could have easily
been either of the other two duaghters (would Soun have even
agreed to the suggestion of pairing Ranma and Akane if she wasn't
really his daughter... um, nevermind. You never said that Soun wasn't
her father, just that she was illegitimate).

Also, Ukyo is another fair choice for the missing hier (and one that
presumably might not require that she be illegitimate either)

"Sun and Fun 1/2" by Carl Hiaasen- Divorced and broke, graphic design
artist Tenchi Masaki is forced to take an architectual job with Nabiki Tendo
Enterprises. Much to Tenchi's horror, he is assigned to fly to Miami,
Florida and sketch designs for a new golf resort that is to be built on the
site of the beach where Tenchi's grandparents first met and fell in love.

Tenchi "goes underground" and joins Hiaasen regulars Skink and Trooper Jim
Tile in planning to sabotage the resort, which brings him into conflict with
Nabiki and her brother-in-law, Ranma, who is now Nabiki's murderous chief of
security.

Ooooh... Viscious Ranma...

Not my favorite type of Ranma, but then he isn't the main character
so it should work well enough for this story.

Complicating things is the arrival of Ranma's estranged wife, Akane, who
forms an instant attraction with Tenchi. Can Tenchi get the girl and save
Miami from another tourist trap development?

"WaterStarter" by Stephen King- Ranma is horrified when he learns that
the reason he and his father are such skilled martial artists is because
Genma and Nodoka were part of the "Lot Six" experiments that gave them
mutant powers. Now the U.S. government agency known as The Shop has decided
to kill the former "Lot Six" participants and their offspring, which means
Ranma has to go toe-to-toe with the viscious Native American assassin John
Rainbird.

The great thing about a Steven King story, is that a lot of (or even
all of) the strange and funny weirdness of Rumiko Takahashi's
story line for Ranma may have happened *without* ruining the
feel of a Steven King thriller. Most of it would simply be back-story,
and may even have sinister reprecussions that merely haven't come
to light yet....
