Author's Note:
This story is the second in a series of sort character pieces with the
common theme of an
Evangelion/Oh My Goddess crossover. The first in this series is Misato's
Wish. This work is
significantly darker than its predecessor, and is not comedic at all. You
have been warned.

Rei lay back on the bed, physically drained and emotionally dead. Commander
Ikari had just left her.
She still bore his seed within her, and the red welts of his handprints on
her smooth, white skin. A lone
tear crept down her cheek. She wished that she could end her existence. She
knew that she had before.
She remembered dying and yet she still lived. It was one of the mysteries of
her being. She lifted herself
from the bed and stumbled into the bathroom. She showered long and scrubbed
hard, and cleaned her
body as best she could. Her soul, she feared, would never come clean.

"why does he always come to me?"

The commander said he loved her, said he gave her life, and that his visits
were just a way to show his
love. But she never felt love when he came, only shame. He would cry out a
name she didn't know when
he was in the throes of passion, and it disgusted her. Who was this Yui? Why
did she get the love that
should have belonged to Rei? Rei didn't know.

"why doesn't he love me?"

Rei dressed and sat down. In an effort to ward off boredom, she turned on
her television. Instead of the
magical girl show she'd expected, she saw a pair of feet. They moved towards
the screen, and then,
impossibly, through it. A tanned leg followed them through, then a body,
topped by a beautiful face
and stark white hair. The woman who now stood in her room was almost the
exact opposite of Rei,
in appearance and demeanor.

"Hello, Rei."

"you know my name?"

"Of course. I'm a goddess. I know just about everything."

"oh. of course. what do you want from me?"

Urd was a little taken aback by this girl's quiet acceptance, but carried on
regardless.

"I am a representitive of Kami-sama himself, and he has sent me here to
grant you one wish. Name
anything that you desire, and it shall be granted."

"why have I been granted a wish? surely there are others more worthy than
i."

"Perhaps, perhaps not. I don't know why you have been granted one, but rest
assured, you deserve it!
I run the computer system that assigns wishes, and it's foolproof!"

"oh."

"So what is your wish, Rei?"

"i wish to be loved. i wish for someone to love."

"An excellent wish, and one I shall be glad to grant! I'll be watching you,
to make sure it all works out!"

The white-haired goddess slowly levitated off the floor, light swirling
around her, a wind from nowhere
lifting her clothing and showing an indecent amount of flesh. Suddenly, the
light winked out, and Urd
was gone. In her place was a photograph laying on the floor.

Rei walked over and picked up the photograph, and immediately tears began to
stream down her face,
as she looked at the image and saw her "lover", Commander Ikari. She threw
herself on her bed and cried
tears of bitter hatred, then glanced again at the photo.

All at once, she noticed another person in the picture. It was a young man,
about 10 years old, but the date
on the back of the photo meant that he was around her own age. He looked
very sad, but there was an
intelligence in his eyes that drew her, enchanted her, and then she knew
that her wish had been answered truly.

"Shinji..."
