It's when the light fades and comes only in flashes of memory.

There's no control.  The sparkling is done and over once your
eyes focus again, and your alone in the dark once more.

I remember.  See, when the eyes open, there's always the 
vestige of internal darkness that forces what little light is
around you into your eyes to tell you, "Wake up!  Someone 
needs you!"

In dreams, you know things that you can't really confirm, like
this guy (who I can't really tell is a guy) just broke up with
this girl (who I never get to see, anyway), and is just now
beginning to love again, but their friends are getting in the
way, well meaning as they are.  And they're good friends, she
being the tomboy, and he being the playboy, maniac pervert who
can, and usually does, get people out of trouble.

But everything is good, and okay, because everybody really means
well, and those who aren't don't really need to be your friends,
anyway.

But, that's the light, coming in and out, burning faceless images
into my mind.  Who are they?  When are they?  Who am I?

I remember.  That's the wonder of it all.  I mean, it can get
frightening, thinking that one day, I'll ask myself a question
and not be able to answer, but I'm certain - I'm dead certain -
that I can doodle their faces and expressions and antics and
slaps and punches and running and kisses into the picture.  And
by then, who can forget?

Who can forget a job well done?

Sorry for the silence, minna.  I do think that I'll have the
last September 2001 Synopses List out.

I'd light a candle if the room wasn't so small, and I'd raise
a flag half-mast if it wouldn't pass the ceiling.  But each time
I see a spire, and each time I hear the names and places, I 
think about it.
