My apologies to everyone who never thought they'd read through a
lemon scene featuring Genma.

Why? Genma, for all his obvious faults (obvious in the
sense that Mount Rushmore's a bit obvious, admittedly) is
still a man and therefore capable of falling in, and being in,
love.
Which was indeed the point of this chapter. Ranma's learning about love and
lust, and having to cope with the differences between the two overlapping
emotions.
My own parents would scream at each other on a weekly
basis, sometimes daily. Dad was almost a stereotype of the lazy
Mexican trying to get by on his ability to charm and seduce,
while Momma was just as typecast as the penny-pinching, thrifty,
tight-fisted (and slightly shrewish) Scots-Irish housewife.
A Mexican and and Irish-woman. You must have had quite a childhood, Ed.
Love's a strange thing, and no one will ever understand
it fully, Chris. And I think you've managed to show that nicely.
I will admit to having strong opinions about the nature of love. ^_^
Ranma's learning some of the same lessons I had to learn at about the same
age. No, no one will ever fully understand love. And sometimes two people
who love each other can be antagonistic, if not outright hateful.
Even if it required a lemon scene staring Genma (uhg!) and Nodoka
(now SHE'S acceptable *raor!*).
Nodoka is quite the hottie, at least the way she's drawn. If you consider
that she probably looked quite a bit like Ranma as a young woman, then...
Still, the point of the scene was not for Genma and Nodoka to get it on,
but for Ranma to see what passed between her parents and the full range of
what they were capable of.
So I, for one, have no complaints about that scene.
It helped make an important point, and the fic would have been
the less for it's absence.
I'm glad you feel that way, 'cause that's why it's there!
Thanks for reading, Edward.
