The FFML Refugee List

"No, Daddy, I will *not* tolerate his presence in this house any
longer." Akane stomped her foot to punctuate her outburst. "Him, *or*
his father, if Genma insists on dragging that...that...*trash* into our
home!"

"Now listen..."

Soun tried to pull his demon head intimidation technique, but Akane
pulled it off first. "NO MEANS NO!"

He instinctively cowered away, crying partly out of fear and partly out
of joy that his daughter had finally maastered that move. It was truly
among his most powerful moves, for an opponent with no will to strike
back was helpless no matter how otherwise powerful.

"You *know* I can't tolerate them here, with what Ranma is. Be glad I
don't start referring to Ranma as 'it'. And..."

Soun tracked Akane's cool gaze to where Ranma had just come out of his
room. "I get the hint, Akane." He adjusted a bag over his shoulders -
a bag that, from the looks of it, held all of his scant worldly
possessions. "Do me a favor, and don't tell Pops I've split."

Even though Ranma was near the top of the stairs and Akane in the main
room below, she still managed to spit at his feet. "I'll do it, but
not for you. I'll do it as a favor for Genma, so that he'll have more
of an excuse to never again lay eyes you or your mother."

"Fine, fine, whatever. Hey, Soun, tell Kasumi I'll miss her cookin',
will ya? And Nabiki...well, if she wants to find me, she can track me
down easily enough. I ain't gonna hide."

"You should," Akane snorted. "People like you shouldn't be allowed on
the streets."

Ranma rolled his eyes, and then he was gone. Some kind of rapid
travel, Soun mused, probably developed during his training trip. He
had only arrived a few days ago.

Akane's growl snapped the rails of Soun's train of thought. "Now,
dear, it's rude to do this to our guests. I don't care who they are,
you have to forgive their flaws."

Akane looked him in the eyes. "I could forgive a lot of things,
Father. If he was an otaku, that I could forgive. If he was descended
from those unclean filth-caste burakumin, I could even forgive him for
that. But. Not. This."

"What's wrong with being a boy? Every man was one, once."
