   What is the special magic about the words "Bill of Rights" that we
arrogant Americans think that any country without one oppressive? The only
reason we have a bill of rights is that the constitutional committee writing
the Constitution argued too much about them, and decided to limit the main,
more "permanent" body of the constitution to the structure of our new
government, which at that time was needed more than anything else, then work
on the more moralistic and ethical parts. Another reason they listed them as
amendments rather than being placed directly into the Constitution is so
they could be changed without violating the entire constitution. the Bill of
Rights was always meant to be changed and up dated.
   The Japanese, with the help of Gen. MacArthur, just managed to write
their Constitution with most of the basic "freedoms" and "Rights" included
in it.

   Another myth is that the Japanese constitution was written by America and
forced on the Japanese by MacArthur. Yes, a condition of surrender was that
the japanese adopt a constitution, but NOT what it said.  The Japanese wrote
it, with HELP from America.

NOW THAT THAT IS OUT, I have my own idea about a ninja based group, hiding
out in post war Japan.
   What if Gen. MacArthur KNEW about them? think about it! He had an extreme
dislike of  politicians, ever since they "betrayed" him when his troops
trampled down the Bonus Army and burnt all their possessions( and trampled
over the bill of rights). That is why He went from the highest job in the US
army (Army chief of staff ) to military advisor of a minor ally/Protectorate
(Philippians). He disliked Truman, refused to follow orders, hated Comunist,
and considered it his duty to defeat them. If they were delevoping the
a-bomb, that was justification enough to defeat them, before they could
a-bomb us.
  Also MacArthur did win over a large amount of the Japanese people almost
immediately after the war. When his occupation force arrived in Japan, they
did not rape, pillage, and plunder the country like the people believed
would happen, but brought war relief, food, economic relief and baseball.
  When MacArthur took residence in Tokyo as SCAP, the Emperor decided to pay
him court (NOT vice versa) and visit MacArthur at his headquarters, and to
bow before him and acknowledge MacArthur supremancy directly as an example
for his people. MacArthur wouldn't let him. MacArthur made it clear He was
the one who felt deeply honored by the visit, that the Emperor was not a war
criminal and that the Emperor was not subordinate to him. This one act won
over alot of hardliners an vast amounts of the general population. Before
long he was the "American Ceaser", or American "Emperor", and apeared very
honorable and noble to the Japanese people.
