Sorry. 80's flashback. =)

I've always felt the ninja clans would've survived as small, family run 
corporations dealing in medical technology, Japanese Artifacts, or clothing. 
Possibly security companies. Stuff like that. I do remember reading a Ranma 
Fic where Konatsu pondered upon the fact that surveilance technology was 
making the traditional arts of the ninja impossible. That is, the famous art 
of invisibility was becoming eclipsed. Therefore, the ninja, who according to 
legend are masters(and mistresses) of adaption, would have ways to counter 
today's methods.

I rather imagine a 21st century ninja's garb would include night and 
infravision goggles, body armor, a taser, an ECM suite of some kind, it would 
have to be portable, and designed for building security systems. They would 
possibly have a gun of some kind for taking out cameras, and the usual 
assortment of traditional weapons forged from 21st metals and designed using 
up to the minute knowledge of areodynamics. That means shiriken would fly 
farther and faster, for example.
