While I'm sure all of us appreciate the good wishes from everyone, the
fact is that there are simply too many list members for this flood to
continue. Obviously, threatening to tempban people isn't going to carry
a lot of weight under the circumstances. ^_^ So this is more in the line
of an appeal to your sensibilities, a plea that we be able to remember
the FFML during this (likely brief) down-time as the home for quality
fanfic discussions that it was.
Specifically,
1) If you have specific information on alternative venues, please feel
free to post. By this, I mean something like "I'm setting up a
replacement forum. Here's how to join:" If you just want to suggest
ideas, please write directly to ffml-admins@fanfic.com or
cherry@fanfic.com.
2) If you've posted fics to the list before, an announcement on where
your fics will be appearing during the outage is fine.
3) If you just want to post to the list to say goodbye and good luck,
well... please don't. As I said, the thought is appreciated, but there
are far too many subscribers for this to be practical.
Let me add, because several people have asked, that the subscriber list
is being saved; when an official FFML replacement is set up, everyone
will be notified. No one will be left out who doesn't want to be.
As for me, I won't be joining FFML2; if you want to know why, ask me via
private mail. If I write anything during the outage, it'll appear on my
web site, http://www.akane.org/gary. If you want to make other
arrangements for receiving my fics, write to me privately. If you'd like
to send me your fics, by all means do so, and I'll C&C as much as time
and energy allow.
