Already done. eGroups, BTW, merged with Yahoo. ffml was taken by the
Final Fantasy Mailing List, so I grabbed amffml (Anime Manga yadda yadda).
But for the reasons Ed just listed, this is not a good choice, so I'm
looking for a better one.
Okay. Being a former soldier and paranoid as hell (not to
mention the fact that KaraOhki refuses to have anything to do with
eGroups due to their 'if you post it, WE own the copyright' Terms
of Service) I went on a quick and dirty run thru the net with my
best Search programs.
Here's what I've found.
Cool List =
http://www.coollist.com/
(cool list, btw, does NOT try to grab ownership of anything
posted, according to their ToS)
ListBot =
http://www.listbot.com/
(which now supports posts of up to 100K in the free version)
MacList =
http://www.maclaunch.com/forms/list.shtml
(a bit on the "Macintosh Uber Alles!" side, but free)
BraveNet =
http://www.bravenet.com/samples/mailinglist.php
(couldn't find their Terms of Service page.)
These seem to be the only available alternatives to
eGroups at the moment.
Wish I could have found better.
