PS this is a character bash but I thought it might be humorous to some
readers.
It's not so much a bash, IMO, as it is completely and utterly pointless.
Anyone can come up with ways to kill off a character, but if you don't
take the time to build it into an actual story with conflict that shows
something about the characters involved, why should anyone read it?
ShortYes' Akane-bash reminds me of a journalism excersize more
than anything else. The next step in the excersize would be to
expand on the bare-bones ideas presented, and then to select one
to continue into a story...
I find it alarming that ShortYes merely assumes that any of those four
arcs garantees that Akane dies though. The car accident sets are open to
last minute rescues or lengthly recoveries in a hospital. And what if the
rescuer wasn't Ranma? Akane could fall for whoever it is - and it wouldn't
even have to be a new character...
As for dying from her own cooking - other than Ranma's comments, there
is no proof that her cooking is leathal in cannon. The worst that ever
happened is that people got sick from what she prepared. Usually it only
tastes horrible, but is otherwise edible. The really scary thing is that she
cooks
like I do - experimenting and adding unusual ingredients without consulting
cookbooks or other recipies...
My lucks a bit better though - I only have to throw out some of whatever
I cook when I try something new! ^_^
