All right.  The debate over original fics in general, their place in anime
fanfiction, and their place on the FFML, is banned.  Please take it off the
list if you're interested in continuing, although commentary on the
specific fic in question is, of course, still welcome.  Please try to keep
it on-topic, though, and not go off into broad, general areas of debate
about original fics.



To quote from the FAQ:



*The fanfic mailing list (FFML, or ML for short) is a forum for authors

*and fans to discuss fanfics (fanfiction stories) with an anime/manga

*theme that are posted to the FFML. Generally, this means stories

*involving settings, characters, props, attacks or any combination of

*the above from anime/manga.



Anime/manga theme extends, as Matthew Johnston has said, to include
original stories.  So, yes, original stories with anime/manga themes are
perfectly welcome on the list, and I would personally hope that no one
feels marginalized or unwelcome in posting original stories with an
anime/manga theme to them.



Yes, it's sometimes difficult to get C&C; I can imagine it's particularly
so for original fics.  And it's frustrating to get none at all--I can say
this not only in a general way, but from personal experience.  However,
shouting at the list for not giving it to you is, in my experience,
somewhat counterproductive, and leads to a lot of unecessary anger and
stress, and to threads which we have to ban.



So, summing up: anime/manga themed original fics are welcome on the
list.  People are encouraged to C&C them just as they would for stories
based on established series, but shouting at people for not giving it to
you is, basically, a bit rude and unlikely to evoke the kind of positive
feelings that will make people want to give you good C&C.



That said, take the debate over original fics off the list, please, and
carry on as usual with fanfics, commentary, and other things that the list
is designed for.
