Soul's Destiny
A Tenchi/Buffy the Vampire Slayer Fanfic by Tracy Garentt AKA Crikit
Prologue
The Goddess Tamashii looked down at the world. A frown etched on her face,
tears forming in her pale blue eyes. She was suffering. The people that she
depended on for survival were losing faith, losing compassion. In essence
they were giving up hope, selling their souls, -the souls that she had given
them-and using them for a quick fix of happiness. The evil was winning.
The struggle of four people in particular caught her attention. The first, a
vampire with a soul, and the slayer who loved him, two people who should be
mortal enemies caring for each other so deeply that they would risk their
lives, their futures for each other. Breaking traditions and rules has kept
them alive, kept them together, but now the girl will not survive to see the
dawn. With the passing of the girl, the vampire will give up his will to
live and attempt to join her in her eternal rest.
Tamashii knows it is so, she has seen it happen many times before. Two souls
that complete each other, one's life is taken, and the other chooses to
follow rather then live a hollow and empty life on their own. She can not
fault them; in part it is her fault. She made the souls, made them so that
all people would have a mate. A person, who completed the other, completed
their soul. Some will find that mate, while others will struggle, coming
close to that person but never finding them.
The Goddess turned her attentions to focus on the other pair, in ways much
like the first in other ways eons apart. A young man who lived in Japan, and
one of the alien girls who lived with him. Enemies by birth. Him a member of
the royal family of Jurai, and she a space pirate. For him to love the
pirate that tormented his family would be insane, but he did. He could not
help it, something about the girl called to him, begged him to love her^and
he did. Unknown to the others, who have pledged their hearts to him, he
loved the one he should not. The one that watched him grow from her dungeon,
that watched him laugh and play. The one who witnessed his suffering at the
loss of his mother, and tried to comfort him. All that and neither able to
express how they feel. He not wanting to hurt the others, she unable to find
the words to express it, but their delay was costing them. The more they
delayed the weaker their bond became, if it kept up, the bond would
disappear forever.
Four souls, powerful enough to find the ones they were meant for, but unable
to do anything to keep each other. She must help them, but how?
