I think psychological flaws are critical. Mousse's visual problems only become
funny when paired with his fixation on Shampoo and the earnestness with which he
approaches life, so that Mousse mistakenly fighting a tree beomes funny.
Similarly, Kuno's extreme mental density and his self-image as a noble samurai,
Ryouga and both his gullibility and vulnerability with women.
