More so than the superhero battles in other cities?

He has a very good point. The Guardians have a very highly advanced
intuition (verges on full blown precognition) which would be a much better
reason for Ganthet to give yet another earthling the most powerful weapon in
existance. And you can be vague and in 'high cosmic adventure' mode right
off the bat.

"To deal with the problems. If you have questions, find your senior
in what you call Beikoku or the United States."

senior?

Could use a rewrite, I think. 'Superior' or 'GL Prime'.

"Great, just great. This is Hal Jordan's Green Lantern costume," Akane
muttered. "Who was that blue guy and why did he give me a ring?"

I don't think the fact that the first GL of Earth was Hal Jordan is
publically known to the point that a teenager in Japan would know it.

Hmm. That's iffy, so duck the issue! =) She might call him the 'old' GL, the
one with the graying sideburns, not the current one.

"It shouldn't matter. Do you think all those aliens you encountered
when you tried to restart the corps spoke English? They spoke Interlac
and your ring translated that into English and your words into
Interlac."

Isn't Interlac the 30th century language? Is it spoken in 20th century DC
Universe?

DC muddles along. They've probably used it both places (and Galac).

Kyle filed that information away and stared out the window at Japan.

"What are you going to do?"

Kyle shrugged and replied, "Nothing. This is Ganthet's choice, and I'm
not going to interfere with that, especially if it leads to a
reformation of the Green Lantern Corps."

I'd like to think Kyle would take more interest than that.

Especially since Ganthet didn't show up and say, 'Bye the way, I've
recruited some girl you've never heard of to be the next GL. Oh, yeah, I can
create one of those rings anytime I want to.'

Gah!

"I see."

Feeling a need to explain his reasons, Kyle said, "I'm not shirking my
duties as Green Lantern, Batman. I just have the feeling that if I stay
away, for right now, the Corps has a chance to come back."

Why would he have to stay away?

He screwed up big time when he was too 'proactive'. I can definitely see him
being a bit cautious, but not avoiding looking into it.

Kyle's also done some work for a Japanese firm. Managed to get into a
super-hero fight while he was there too, IIRC.

him. Judging by her costume and powers, we have ourselves a Green
Lantern. One of the theories put forth is that she is Hal Jordan's
daughter and that it is his ring she is using."

Heh.

<<Snicker>>

"Someone managed to defeat Happosai that fast?" Cologne muttered. "A
green lantern? What's a green lantern have to do with anything? It was
a girl with magical powers dressed in a skimpy outfit that defeated
Happy, not a lantern. Civilized people, can't even identify something
right."

The original Green Lantern (Alan Scott)'s green lantern came from China
and was a magical artifact. She probably ought to be familiar with it.

And most probably the legend behind it, which was a 'glowing, emerald demon
that was felled with wood after nearly destroying the Chinese Empire'. That
would be neat.

Casting a quick glance at Kyle, Batman replied, "Yes. Yes, there is.
Apparently, Ganthet gave out another Green Lantern power ring to a girl
in Tokyo. I've had Oracle contact Dr. Light to keep an eye on the
situation, but I feel that I along with Kyle should go."

Batman is isolationist enough these days that I think he'd need a fairly
good reason to want to go all the way to Japan just for a new Green
Lantern; he didn't ever go check out any of the others who have showed up
over the years.

Point. And these guys have *NO* way of knowing that Ganthet gave her a ring.
As far as they know, she could be an imposter trying to besmirch their
(semi) good name. Bat-paranoia says that she's actually an alien spy,
prepping the Earth for invasion.

Ok, not quite that bad, but you get the idea.

Plastic Man formed his body into Napoleon's hat and landed on top of
Kyle's head.

Heh!

That's Plas for you.

A resounding bong sounded out through Tokyo as the Lantern's blow
struck the bell. Smirking a bit, Akane let the bell and hammer vanish.

Heh!

An interesting start.

I do have to agree about Batman not really caring, except to make sure
*Kyle* cares. Beyond that, she's not a threat to him and the JLA. Ergo,
he'll ignore her until it becomes neccessary to nuetralize her.

Besides, it's Kyle's job. He's the GL.

Kyle would be very curious as to how a supposedly one of a kind weapon (his
ring) came to be in the hands of some Japanese school girl. But, he would
have reservations about confronting her head on.

Research time for Kyle. Dr. Light would be the best bet for him to sound out
what's going on.

BTW, those silly domino masks really don't do a lot to protect your
identity. And Ranma might not be the brightest bulb in the tree, but I
seriously doubt that he's not going to notice a green jade ring on Akane's
finger.

He does tend to notice some things about her (contrary to what he'd admit,
of course. He'd never, ever admit that he's watching her that closely.)

=)

Hope I'm not being to rough here.
