If you're going by the manga, then you should know that Hiko is the 13th
master of Hiten Misturugi Ryuu. The name "Hiko" is also passed down
with the school. He killed his master learning the succession
technique, and, were it not for the reversed blade, Kenshin would have
killed Hiko when *he* learned it. It is tradition that there be one
master and one student, and that the student take the life of the
master. That's why, after Kenshin learned the succession technique, but
didn't kill Hiko, Hiko tried to pass on the both his mantle and the name
of "Hiko the 14th." Kenshin refused both, thus ensuring that the
dangerous school would die with him.

Because of the nature of the school, Hiko didn't pick his sole student
lightly. He saw something special in Kenshin. There were no other
students, before or after. Even Yahiko, who inherited Kenshin's
sakabatou, used Kaoru's school as his budo, because Kenshin refused to
teach.

Now, how does this relate to your fanfic? Well, I'm willing to stretch
my willing suspension of disbelief, that, in this fusion, Ranma could
learn Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu through a scroll, or through some master in
China, or whatever. That's fine, I like the fic as you've got it, but
then I consider the fusion to be more Ranma than Rurouni Kenshin, since
the RK elements are so diluted. I'm just saying that you can't base
this particular deviation from canon on the logic that Hiko might have
taught other students, because that's just not the case. :)

Just my $.02. I like the fic. Keep up the good work.
