First of all I would like to say that this is an excellent fic. I think the
characters are well written and realistic (well, as realistic as characters
based on cartoons can ever be). That said I do have one problem, Ranma losing
interest in martial arts. It was the one thing that doesn't ring true to the
character. In both the manga and anime it is obvious that Ranma LOVES being
the best martial artist. I can see him/her adding other interests but I think
M.A. would always be a primary focus. The kind of dedication Ranma shows for
the martial arts just can't be taught or forced, as it was implied Genma did.
Someone who was being forced into it could NEVER attain Ranma's level of
skill, the desire just would not be there. No matter how well he faked it or
how hard his father pushed him without a certain hunger to learn and master
new techniques Ranma could never have become as good as he is. Also given how
quickly he picks up new techniques he obviously has a huge amount of natural
skill. Anytime someone is that good at something they are often driven to
explore that gift to the fullest, and based on the manga and anime Ranma is
certainly driven, not by his father but by his own talent. I have no problem
seeing Ranma focus a bit more on the less violent aspects of the art, but
cutting back as much as he has? No, sorry that just does not ring true to the
character.

Just my 2 cents.
