I have found a good site regaring this issue.

It was created by Professor of English/Humanities
Charles Darling at Capital Community College

We use an apostrophe to create plural forms in two
limited situations: for pluralized letters of the
alphabet and when we are trying to create the plural
form of a word that refers to the word itself

<nod> The basic rules aside, there are

apostrophe can
be used for showing plurial: multiples of an

Er... no. I don't want to belabor the point, but
I'm reasonably sure
that using an apostrophe to make a plural is
*always* wrong. Except
when
it's also a possessive, in which case the
apostrophe comes after the
s:
"I've got photographs of all the UFOs' control
rooms!"
Nailed in in one, Gary.
This being one of my pet peeves (and something
that I find myself
making mistakes on, STILL), I'm posting a link to a
page that details
the exact use of an apostrophe. Enjoy, and PLEASE
make use of it. :)
