Nene Romanova could feel the sweat running down her
back as she worked at
removing the boomer from the ADP computers.
Boomer?
Boomer. It's a mispronunciation of B.U.M.A., I believe...
although for the life of me I can't recall what the acronym
stands for right now. (Biological Utility Maintenance Android?)
In fact, I can't recall if the acronym is ever actually explained
in the series, to be honest. Shameful, isn't it?
Boomers are helpful little robot servants, basically, except
when they run amuck and become big nasty problems... ones that
can do VERY ugly things, like assimilate mechanical objects (I
don't know how else to describe it), grow tentacles, shoot energy
blasts, eviscerate poor fleshy humans with steel claws, and so
on.
They run amuck fairly often. :) The run-of-the-mill boomers
are pretty pathetic, and still generally whip ADPolice's butt,
until they're dog-piled by sheer firepower. The smarter, better
ones give even the Sabers a run for their money, and make the
ADPolice look like they're standing still. :)
Watch Bubblegum Crisis. It's cool. :)
She tried to ignore the sweat,
to devote her entire attention to rooting out the electronic
intruder and
tossing it out like yesterday's garbage. She was glad she
had Mackie
helping her.
The power system flared higher as the boomer's
control programs gained a
firmer grip on the system... and then Nene realized the
solution. Her
fingers moving as quickly as she could, she input as series
of small viruses
"inputted"
Actually, it's correct either way, although I believe the
former is more correct. It depends on which authority you want
to subscribe to, basically. Technical reference manuals and most
books I've seen say 'input', others say 'inputted'.
A typo in the last sentence lies just after 'input'. Typo:
