a friend of mine was reading 'Lines of Destiny' and she told
Yay! Fan-mail! :)
me that it was an interesting plot, but kinda impossible,
<blink> I ask for a one-month delay for the impossible!
[the akane-hotaru concept] cos sailor saturn is the youngest
child of serenity (in the future) and she got the power of sailor
moon that has something to do with death... anyway, she said that
saturn just came from the future just like chibi moon. i'm
<Phoenix falls off his chair> Whaaaaaaaaat? O_O
confused... i didn't really want to bring this up, but she kept
bugging me to ask abt this thing. i really don't care, cos i still
think the fic is great.
Ah... Well... Thanks for the praise, Natsuki-chan, but I feel
much obligated to correct you on some points! :)
Your friend has a rather imaginative idea for Saturn's origins,
but I'm afraid she got a lot of it wrong... Sailor Saturn is the
Senshi of Silence (which for all intents and purposes, is the same as
death, so your friend got at least that right). She is
*not*
Serenity's child, whether back in the Silver Millenium or in the
present or in the future (Crystal Tokyo). Though it might make a
good fanfic premise, now that I think about it...
ANYWAY, she does, however, have the power to destroy a world (the
Silence) IF SHE GOES FULL OUT. Needless to say, she usually doesn't.
At least, not since she was reborn. The only time she truly cut
loose in the manga was when she was awakened for the first time. Her
civilian identity (Hotaru Tomoe) had been possessed by Mistress Nine
(Pharaoh 90's head flunky). She was about to destroy the world when
Hotaru's soul woke up inside Mistress 9 and metaphorically told M9 to
get bent.
*Then* things got messy.
Now,
*in the manga*, Hotaru's soul is destroyed by Mistress 9 when
she keeps the rest of the Inners' souls from being consumed by M9, as
well as bringing the pink flamingo back from the brink. However,
shortly after, Sailor Saturn, is summoned by the Outers' talismans,
but she only has her "I will Silence Everyone and Everything"
attitude. She easily kicks Pharaoh 90's hazy behind (you heard
right, Sailor Moon couldn't do zit. Saturn wiped him off the map).
She would have apparently universe the entire
*universe* if Sailor
Super Moon hadn't used the Grail at the same time... But I'm
digressing. So in the end, she killed herself to destroy Pahraoh 90
by using the Death Reborn Revolution (look in my picture gallery for
images) and she was reborn as a baby after the fight. She grew up
again
*really* quick, though.
She's the youngest of the Senshi (apart from Chibi-Moon, I
suppose, but the pink flamingo doesn't appear in LoD, so she doesn't
count), but her power rivals that of Sailor Moon. In the manga, it
may even exceed it, as Sailor Moon doesn't have the power to slag the
entire
*universe* if she gets too snarked off, AFAIK. Must make PMS
fun...
It's sad, really. Saturn's job , to put it bluntly, is to
eradicate all life on Earth should the should a Force of Darkness
win. In that respect, her power is completely opposite to that of
Sailor Moon. There are few official details in the manga about the
true nature of Saturn's power, which is why most fanfic authors come
with slightly different explanations. The anime version of the
Saturn storyline is fairly different from the manga... In the manga,
it runs from the latter half of Vol. 7 and continues into Vol. 8, 9
and 10.
So basically, Saturn does
*not* come from the future. Trust me.
And we know next to
*nothing* from her life in the Silver Millenium,
so anyone can play with that, too.
