Because I'm working on another Ranma fusion - this one with the novel
"Creatures of Light and Darkness" by Roger Zelazny (possibly one of the
best fantasy novels ever written). In that book, there is a scene where
Anubis, fearing for his life at the hooves of Typhon, tries to use the
Bridle (crafted expressly for that purpose); it failed miserably, and
Anubis lost an arm for his efforts. I decided to use the concept.

By the way, I seriously recommend the book; it's over 30 years old, so
it'll probably be in your local library.
