Also, I don't quite like having an Akane who's already grown into
"determined she wants Ranma" without any details on the process of
how it happened beyond "x months pass", but I guess there's no way
around that that wouldn't mean spending a lot of time on things that
shouldn't be spent time on. The whole "Ranma is gone, and now Akane
is dead set on getting him back, and everyone forms a truce, etc
etc" bit *does* feel a bit cliched, but maybe that's just me.

I don't know, Ronny. Akane's always struck me as the sort of
person who only wants what she does have, and isn't too careful of
what she DOES have.
The more something eludes her, the more obsessive she is
about getting it. Once she has it - or feels certain that she has
it or controls it - she tends to ignore it or mistreat it. Think
about it.. when she's certain she has Ranma, she tends to be
careless of him. When she thinks she's about to lose him, she
suddenly starts trying to get him back. Denying every inch of the
way, of course, that she's doing anything of the sort.
The only exceptions to this that I've seen in either the
anime or the (admitedly few) manga I've read are in those cases
where she's feeling in a "I have to take care of it" mood; puppies
and kittens and the sort. And those cases where there's other
emotional attatchments. Memories of her mother, friends, people she
cares about.
It's just my interpretation of her demonstrated actions,
granted, and your mileage may vary. _But_ it is ONE valid
version among others, and therefore forms something worth
basing a fic on. And given Krista's skills, I think.. no, I'm
_certain_, that this one will be a great one.
I'd better wrap this up before it turns into a character
