I really like this idea. There are plenty of alternate universe
stories, but most of them focus on Ranma. It's nice to see a different
character as the focus. A good example of how this can be done is the fic
named 'Ryouga and Ukyou' by Mark Doherty which focuses on Ryouga. Of
course, this could also turn out to be bad like 'A Very Scary Thought' by
Jim Robert Bader. That's just my opinion though.
So far it's a pretty good start. I like how Ukyou feels that it's her
duty to take Ranma's place. I don't necessarily understand her reasons, but
those should be further explored in future parts.
I like how almost all the character relationships have changed from
beginning. Gemna is back with his wife. Ranma's mother has a connection
with Tofu's mother. Nabiki is the fiancee now. Ranma(Ukyou) is a guest
instead of a freeloader. I could also picture Akane having feelings for
Kuno, since she is known for violently denying her feelings for people.
The relationship between Nabiki and Akane was similar to the way I
picture it. Nabiki teases Akane sometimes, but doesn't really mean any harm
by it. Akane recognized this and resolved get even later. Close and loving
like sisters should be. It's a shame that many fics don't show this. I
really would appreciated if this fic did.
The title seems kind of wrong though. Presumably Ranma's dead and it's
pretty cold to say such a thing. Also, Ukyou seems to recognize that there
is a need for Ranma. Did you get to the title from Tenchi Muyo, because
that's what it reminded me of? Looking forward to more.
