    Ranma is owned by somebody else.  Don't sue, I'm broke, and you've 
already got a lot of my money already.
    Some of the ideas used here are basic to human thought, and therefore not 
explained.  If some of these unexplained ideas confuse you, you're probably 
an alien, though it might just be that you've been very good at avoiding 
mythology.  (Shame on you!)


The King is Dead

     Ranma Saotome, current God/King of Earth, and husband of the Priestess 
Akane Tendo, was in pain.
     For most people, this was normal.  But for Ranma, it was an almost 
forgotten sensation, not felt for over ten years, when he killed the last 
Godking.
     He was loosing his power...he hadn't ever thought that it would happen.  
It had been, before, forever that he'd die at the hands of a challenger...
     He had gotten slow, and generally out of practice, and forever became 
now with the swing of a sword...
     Ranma's head hit the ground.  His head dropped into his wife's lap, and 
Shi, his opponent, cut open his chest and ate his heart...
     The Godking was dead, and long live the new Godking.
    
     The darkness of death was shattered by a flash of otherworldly light 
that turned, slowly, into the darkness of new life.  A voice spoke into 
Ranma's mind, comforting him as the self and the light faded...
     He would live, his soul going into his yet-to-be-born son.  He'd see 
Akane again, and would be able avenge himself.
     Self went, and another voice spoke now, in a wordless yet disturbing 
lullaby.
