AnimeFEST! is proud to introduce our Fan Fiction Contest, our way of
helping as many fan authors as possible to share their works with the
public.
Prizes will be awarded in a number of categories, as well as a Grand
Prize winner,
to be announced at a special awards ceremony during the convention.

Rules

Entries must be between 1,500 and 4,000 words long.

For printed entries sent via snail mail, the entries should be
approximately 3 to 8 pages, single spaced on standard letter-sized
paper, and should be printed on one side only, on loose sheets with the
title, author's
name and page number (1/5, 2/5 etc.) on each page.

For email entries, the documents should be saved as a plain text file.
Documents saved as MSWord, WordPerfect files, or anything other than
plain text will be rejected.

A pen-name may be used. However, all entries must also include the
author's full real name, as well as phone number and home address for
contact purposes.

Complete stories, singles scenes, vignettes, excerpts, and other forms
of prose are permitted. Must contain at least one recognizable anime or
manga related character, setting or situation. All anime or manga series
used in the work must be listed.

Eroticism, sexuality and innuendo, violent action and ludicrous cartoon-
style violence are allowed. Coarse language should be limited to that
which is acceptable in a PG-13 rated movie.

Entries must *not* have been posted for general reading on the Internet
*before* March 1, 1999. These includes fanfics that have been posted to
personal web sites, archives, or mailing lists.

Email submissions will be accepted until August 25, 1999. Snail mail
submissions must be postmarked no later than August 20, 1999.

where the author will have the opportunity to read their work in front
of an audience. (For those with stage fright or for those who are unable
to
attend, AnimeFEST! volunteers will be available to do the reading.)

The winning entries will be also published in the program book. By
submitting your work to the contest, you grant AnimeFEST! permission to
reprint it, in whole or in part, in its publications, both printed and
