i ran into a couple of "Nodoka takes charge"
stories that didn't involve her spurning all
the other engagements due to the writer's
bias towards an Akane+Ranma pairing.
Unfortunately, in both cases, the test used
to determine who loved Ranma the most was
biased itself.
         So, anyone who's up on the end of
the series and can avoid showing bias towards
or against a particular fiancee, here's the
idea.
        Nodoka comes up with the same basic
concept and isn't a racist or caste system
elitist or that concerned with whether a
promise between drunken fathers is quite the
same as a stolen dowry or both when fathers
accepted Kodachi's largesse at a desperate
time.
       She presents each of the would-be
fiancees with a horrible choice, each
different from the one the others must face,
in order to win her favor as regards her son.
       Shampoo must choose between her status
as and residence as an Amazon, or Ranma.
       Ukyou must choose between okonomiyaki
or Ranma.
       Kodachi, i'm not sure of, but
horticulture or Ranma, or psychiatric help if
she's to be considered a viable candidate is
another possibility.
       Akane, here i'm puzzled. What would
Akane consider a sacrifice? To stop cooking?
She's promised not to hit anyone in anger
before, and that didn't last long at all.
Maybe Nodoka comes up with a fake (or real)
cure for her son's curse that would take all
his female qualities and transfer them to
Akane while doing the reverse with Akane's
masculine qualities. Worse is the possibility
to dangle before Akane that the reverse might
happen.
       The basic setup is that at this point
Nodoka's looking at them as a level playing
field, so maybe the timeframe for this would
be better as right after discovering that
"Lanko" is Ranma as opposed to after Jusendo
(when the doomed marriage is almost certain
to occur.)

just an idea that requires more time than
i've got,
