That's bizarre. I don't pretend to understand why my initial message
was sent twice. And also, I apologize for the second message. I meant
to edit out all the stuff at the top. I accidentally sent the thing,
and then immediately realized that I'd screwed up. But I didn't want to
spam the list with yet another garbage message, so I figured I'd let it
lie.

I've asked permession to post this message to the list from the original
sender, along with my reply. Some stuff snipped to make the message a
little shorter.

Nakago. But, instead of Chichiri and Tasuke showing up at the

An odd point to jump in. Well, it makes it more
interesting and action packed, I suppose.

It's really the only time that things in the book start affecting the
human world, and drawing the attention of Koenma.

Apparently, when the fighting started breaking out in the real
world it
alerted Koenma who immediately sent Botan to dispatch the troops.
 This
would be closer to the beginning of the YYH series (but after the
whole
demon-insect infestation story - hopefully someone can see where
I'm

Um, which demon-insect story? The one with Setsui?
Or was there another demon insect story in the first
season which I have cleverly forgotten?

I'm specifically referring to the story where Suzaku and the other 4
leaders of the Youma use the insect flute to control demon-insects that
infect and posess humans in order to try to force Koenma to lift the
barrier and allow them access to the human world. And Yuusuke et al
have to fight their way up the castle, defeating each of the demons from
Genbu to Suzaku.

Anyway, I think Nakago is strong enough to fight with
the YYH crowd even after the Taguro tournament. But
after they get their final training is another matter.

I'm pretty sure that after he defeated Suzaku, Yuusuke would have been
more than strong enough to take out Nakago. But Yuusuke and Kuwabara
always seem really cocky, and begin each fight by vastly underestimating
their opponents strength and using only the least powerful attacks.
It's not until they've had the crap beat out of them that they start to
fight seriously. ^_^

Anyway, I still have to think it through exactly, but at some
point here
a wish will be made, a giant blue dragon will appear in the sky, 5

ghosts will show up (ghosts that aren't supposed to even exist -
talk
about some screwed up paperwork for Koenma to deal with!),
Tamahome

So that's how Tamahome's imoutos were able to
beat up Suboshi (or was it Amiboshi?)! Bad, bad
Koenma-sama!

Anyway, who are these 5 ghosts supposed to be?

As I recall, in FY as soon as Yui made the final wish to unseal Suzaku,
the four ghosts of the dead seishi (Hotohori, Nuriko, Mistukake, and
Chiriko) show up and Miaka uses their combined power to summon Suzaku.

reappears, and Miaka will try to summon Suzaku. And of course
Hiei and
Kurama will show up. And the four guys will wonder how the hell

Any particular reason why Kurama and Hiei only
show up now? I know they usually arrive at the scene
after Yuusuke and Kuwabara. However, there should
be a reason why they show up late for a party this
big. And don't say they were having a little shai. >:(

They like to make dramatic entrances? ^_^ Seriously though, if they
show up too early, the four of them would have no trouble with Nakago.
I seriously don't think Nakago is on Hiei's level. I figure that they
only show up when they're really needed, which would be when the dragon
god actually appears in the human world. As long as Yuusuke and
Kuwabara were only fighting Nakago, there wouldn't have been anything
for them to do.

human
world! It turns out that the book, the Universe of the Four Gods,
is a
weak link to the demon world. But it's a link that the 4 "gods",

have been truly sucessful in trying to break their way into the

Does this have to do with Miaka and Yui? So Seiryu
and Suzaku were able to channel through because
for the first time in the history of the book, two of them
were summoned? I'm not sure on this, please clarify.

Right. Miaka and Yui had just the right spiritual qualifications to act
as channels for the beast-gods. Also, I think the human miko has to
actually call the beast-god and willingly give them their body. That's
why they promise wishes - to convince the respective miko to call on
their appropriate god. Previous attempts to call the gods were
abortive, in the one case because the girl's father killed her before
she could be consumed, and in the other because the girl had strong
enough spiritual energy to keep from being used. It doesn't really
have to be because there are two of them at once. But I also think that
Seiryuu and Suzaku would have maintained the charade of being nice,
wish-granting gods up until the time Suzaku was summoned, so that the
two of them could take over the human world together. After they were
both in the human world, there would be no more need for them to
continue to act in their followers' favor.

world. And of course, we find out that they weren't really using
their
full power the first time they fought Yuusuke et al, because part

Who wasn't using their full power? Seiryuu and Suzaku?

Both of them. In my opinion, Hiei defeated Seiryuu way too easily. And
the Suzaku that Yuusuke fought was strong, but certainly not on the same
level as the Suzaku of FY. So obviously they were dividing their energy
during those fights, keeping the book as their trump card in case the
insect flute didn't work. But now they were entirely manifested in the
human world, so they wouldn't have to hold back.

their power was being used to help maintain an entire alternate
reality
inside the book, which is also where they went when they were
thought to
have died. What's interesting, at least to Koemna, is that
somehow the
denizens of this alternate reality aquired human souls, souls that
were
probably misfiled and lost in the paperwork. Kinda suggests an
inside
job, doesn't it? ^_^ Anyway, this all results in a Big Fight,

So the only real stake Koenma has here is that the rift
has caused some "soul spillage" from Ningenkai to
Konan province, right? He just wants the souls back
from Konan and get the to Reikai.

No, like you said below, Koenma didn't want the 4 beasts to invade and
destroy the human world. That was the whole reason he sent Yuusuke et
al to fight them the first time. This time, they invaded the human
world surreptitiously so Koenma didn't realize until it was almost too
late, until the fighting started.

YYH-style, with several apparent-wins and near-losses as our guys
duke
it out with the demon-gods and Nakago for the sake of the earth.
 I
haven't decided yet who will win and who will die. Plus there's
the
bonus problem of Yui who's been consumed by Seiryuu and needs to
be

More paperwork, hehehhe.

More than you realize. There's an entire other aspect to this story
that I didn't realize until I got home last night. Destroying the book
itself in order to stop the gods probably wouldn't help, as the gods are
already in the human world. All that would do is close the door. If
the inhabitants of the book are really alive, and have souls, then what
happens to that world and those people if you kill the gods who are
keeping that world alive? Would the world survive on it's own, and
develope a Klingon-type religion? ^_^ More likely, the world inside
the book would cease to exist. Can the other two gods keep the world in
the book alive themselves? Would they even bother now that their plan
has been found out? So what happens to the world in the book? If you
kill the gods and the world is eliminated, the even more important
question, at least in the eyes of Koenma, would be what would happen to
the souls of the people living there. There's a good possibility that
they would be trapped in limbo for eternity, which is probably one of
the worst things that could possibly happen. I don't think Enma would
be altogether happy. I also wonder if maybe Suzaku et al might have
enjoyed being "gods". They might even be fond of their seishi, the way
you might be fond of a pet goldfish or a housplant. You spend time
taking care of it, and if it dies you're a little upset, but it's not
the most important thing in the world to you (for most people anyway).
So maybe the goal, instead of killing Suzaku and Seiryuu, should be to
force them to leave the human world and to permanently trap them in the
book. It's not like they've been bad as gods, is it? But would the
people of that universe, knowing the truth, really want them back? Most
people probably wouldn't ever have to know, but what about those that
do? Would Tamahome, Chichiri, and Tasuki ever really be satisfied
knowing that their world and their powers are derived from an evil
megalomaniac?

Anyway, the premise sounds interesting. A few things
I'd like to point out and clarify, though. Is Koenma's
stake in this restricted to the souls lost? Or is the
Reikai team really pissed that two gods are in the
backyard of Ningenkai? Also, the concept sort of
implies that the 4 gods of the book are evil, or demonic
in nature. Is this supposed to be the case?

No, yes, and yes. The 4 gods of the book are the same as the 4 demon
beasts that Yuusuke et al fought early in the YYH series. The 4 gods
were only using the book as a way to invade the human world. Which
really throws the religion and philosophy behind FY into chaos, doesn't
it? How do you react when you find out that your god, the source of all
your power, is really an evil monster bent on world domination, and that
your entire life you've been nothing more than a pawn in a much larger
game? Somehow, I don't think Nakago would be at all happy about this
turn of events either. I had another thought about this. Can the
seishi even fight against their gods? If all their powers are derived
from their gods, then it wouldn't make sense that they could be used
against them. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Suzaku and
Seiryuu could control every aspect of their pawns. At least those with
relatively weak wills. But I bet Nakago could oppose them, and Tamahome
when Miaka is threatened. Also, in order to be a seishi it would have
to require some innate spiritual ability. So IMHO, at least some of
their power might be their own. Of course, we wouldn't find out until
they actually tried to fight. This might come off as a pro-Nakago
story, for all you Nakago fans out there who weren't happy with the way
he died in FY. ^_^

Finally, at what point of the YYH storyline does this
come in? It might get complicated if Taguro suddenly
shows up and beats the crap out of Nakago, hehhehe.

Toguro hasn't shown up yet. This takes place just after Yuusuke et al
defeat the 4 beasts, and before Yuusuke, Kuwabara, and Hiei rescue
Yukina.

What's a LoGH spamfic? Oh, whatever it is, it can't be
good. Go for this fic! It looks like a lot of fun. And promise
me you'll kill Miaka in the end. ^_^

Well, I can't promise. ^_^
