Ranma scratched his head. "Who's Jackie Chan?"
His friends stared at him, mouths agape. "You don't know who
Jackie Chan is? The movie star?"
"Oh. I've never seen many movies."
Hiroshi blinked, then returned to his original question. "Well,
he's a martial artist, and he's got a new movie opening tonight. Wanna
go?"
"Sure. I guess."
[Later that night]
Walking out of the theater, Ranma appeared deep in thought.
Every so often, he'd lift his hands, and pantomime something too fast for
his friends to see.
"So, what did you think?"
"Not bad. I guess he had to move slowly so the camra would see
what he was doing, huh?"
"That was slow motion, Ranma. He was moving normal speed during
the filming, they just slowed it down."[1]
"And they dragged out the fight scenes to make it look better?"
"Uh... yeah."
Ranma nodded and began walking home. Daisuke leaned over and
whispered to Hiroshi, 'Bet you 1000 yen Ranma uses a ladder in his next
fight.'
'Bet you 2000 yen he uses a silly disguise.'
Nabiki appeared out of nowhere and whispered to both of them, 'Bet
you 10000 yen he gets drunk.'
'...'
'...'

[1] Slow motion isn't created by slowing down the film. Normally, film is
24 frames per second. During a planned slow motion sequence, the
scene is shot at a higher frame rate, perhaps 48 frames per second.
Then, when the film is played back, it's played at the usual 24 frames
per second, and thus is 'slow'.
