I would've sent something earlier, but I got side-tracked. Oh well,
better late than never.
The principal might be a bit confused about Ukyou's gender if she's
in her boy disguise. After all, he's hardly the most astute observer
in
the universe...
He's also not completely stupid, either (no character debates please).
I'd suggest you give it a little longer than two days for things to pan
out the way
they have. The events of the story could easily be considered to have
occurred
over a longer period of time, and two days seems too brief a time for
Ranma's
feelings to change so dramatically.
Nod.
An interesting counterpoint to Gary's fic. I have a few
comments and suggestions
I thought so too, from what I gathered from what others are saying
about that (I haven't read it).
- While Akane does have a wrathful and vindictive streak,
I don't get the impression that she is much of a schemer. You
might consider writing the misfortune-transferral thing as more
of an impulsive act than a premeditated one. Ukyou does
something to make Akane mad, the chance for Akane to do
this misfortune-transferral spell arises, and in her anger she
goes through with it. That would seem more in line with Akane's
character, to me, than the way you've got it now.
Something simple like Ukyo giving Ranma lunch would do it, I suppose
(or any other thing Ukyo could do to show-up Akane (what would make it
worse if it wasn't intentional on Ukyo's part... I mean showing-up
Akane)-- in Akane's POV, of course).
- I didn't understand the scene with Nodoka, I'm afraid. I
gather you meant that Akane's cooking misfortunes had
transferred to Ukyou, but that didn't seem convincing to me,
in spite of Ukyou's nervousness about Nodoka. Cooking is
a matter of skill for Ukyou, not luck. I don't know that the
Nodoka scene really fits.
I thought so too. Not to mention I thought Nodoka's reactions to Ukyo
and Genma were a little off the wall-- the slicing of the sign was over
the top for my believability, especially if done on purpose (since
Nodoka really doesn't know how to use it, she'd have a better chance
cutting off the panda's arm).
I don't really see how a genius like Ukyo could mess up so bad, even
if she somehow got Akane's terrible cooking passed to her (for that
matter, would that mean Akane's cooking would be fine now? That kind of
logic doesn't float my boat).
- I think a scene in which Kuno declares his undying love
for Ukyou and ignores Akane might be quite a funny additon.
That's not too hard to imagine... the question is, what would Ukyo's
reaction be? (might be flattered by the attention, especially since no
other guy (I speak generally, don't mention Konatsu or Tsubasa to me)
seems attracted to her... maybe) What would Akane's reaction be?
(probably happy about it... maybe)
All in all, not a bad fic. I enjoyed reading it.
I thought it was well-thought, but needs a little help in execution.
(I didn't quite buy the Nodoka-as-avenging-judge bit.) I think the
columns was set at 80, because I'm set at 72 and the lines went crazy (I
know 80 is fine for the list, just pointing that out).
