I can see revealing the crime under certain circumstances,
1.suppose Ranma were raped by someone in the Tendo
household,
maybe even Akane (assumption the she doesn't remember it,
for some reason).
2. Suppose it were Taru and he was male at the time.
3.suppose some really twisted surprise awaits revelation in
the next chapter that will make the rape seem minor.
Example: Ranma is considering suicide. or a suicide/murder
with her father being the cause of her being a her.

I agree this was brought out too quickly if it is to be the
main plot of the story but if it is only part then it could
work.
Only the author knows for sure.
