Sure, if you're a narcissist.

I'm not sure about you, but the primary reason I write
is because I enjoy it.  I write what I'd like to sit
down and read.  Otherwise, it would be an unusually massive
chore--an unpaid for one as well.

Of course the problem with certain Self-Inserts is that the person
writing them is _not_ writing what they would like to read if written
by someone else about someone else.  Going on your own ego-trip is
fine.  Going on someone else's ego-trip can be very irritating.
