<< 1. Technically speaking, the use of a pose and a shout is a method
of
focusing the energies one is summoning. It's possible to harness and
control these energies simply by DOING so, but when one is still
learning,
still training, still fairly inexperienced in the use of these powers,
it
helps to have a focus, something to concentrate on to channel the

And, if you ask me, that is a sure sign that one needs to practice
more
before using the d*mn technique in a fight...
Ideally, you should not need to bother thinking about the move at all.
Ideally, perhaps, but since when is anything ideal? You may not need to
think about performing a standard martial arts move, but I would think
something like a ki blast is a different matter. Besides, where's the
drama in pulling an energy blast out of nowhere? You have to build up to
it, for dramatic emphasis if for no other reason. IMO, the purpose of
calling out the name of a technique is threefold. One, as Lurker said,
to act as a focus, a sort of Kiai, if you will. Second, for dramatic
emphasis, as stated above, and third, to let the audience know just what
the character is attempting to do.
If my sanity asks, I was never here.
