I do have to agree with Pmasters though on the issue of new blood, new 

series. We can only take Ranma, SM, EVA, BGC, and TM so far before there 
will be repeats in theme and plot.<<

Actually a while ago, I started a series called "Testfics" that used 
less-written-about anime. These were mostly ignored. Judging by what 
little feedback I got, they were:
a) Well written, but ignored due to the fact that they weren't 
   based on the FFML regulars
b) Based on anime too obscure to read or write about.
c) Based on anime that is for the most part ignored by anime fans.

You can write about anime other than the few you name, but the real 
question is how well it's received.
