Author's Notes found on the bottom.
The usual disclaimers apply here- Sailor Moon and related characters
belongs to Naoko Takeuchi, and I thank her for creating them in the
first place.
However, I'm only inviting them for a short time. It's kinda expensive
trying to feed them all under my house considering how much money I
make. ^_^;;
A friendly warning- I strongly recommend that you read the first chapter
to make this story more easier to understand and fun.

"Ami-chan! I thought you didn't like manga."
"I never *said* that, only that they would mess up my mind. But it
looks like I'm enjoying muddling up my mind right now, doesn't it?"
"You're out of your mind."
"Yes."

Alternate Visions, Chapter Two:
Mistaken Identities
Rei swept the leaves off the stairs leading to her temple, wearing
her priestess garb, waiting for Usagi and Ami and others to appear for a
meeting. She was still unsure about her position now after the dramatic
revelation last afternoon at the hospital. She supposed that she was
still in a bit of shock.
Being in shock was more of an understatement for her. After all,
how was a person supposed to react to the news that two of her dearest
friends had just switched bodies- literally. Usagi was now in Ami's
body, and Ami in Usagi's. This was just too much for her, especially
with Usagi. She had been used to having Usagi being... well, being
Usagi. Certainly not like Ami who was now inhabiting her friend's body,
who was still reading books and thinking, as opposed to the typical
Usagi she knew. She supposed she would have to adapt, but it would be
difficult for her to do. At least Usagi and Ami were still same person,
even though their bodies were different.
She just had to keep in mind that Usagi was now in Usagi's body.
No, wait- Usagi was now Ami, and Ami was now Usagi, but not in that way.
They just had simply changed their bodies. That's not really big deal,
isn't? Surely she would be able to handle the changes? After all, all
she would have to do is to admonish Ami as usual if she swiped one of
her mangas again.
"Wait, I meant Usagi, no- Ami! I *mean* Usagi in Ami's body!" This
was just too confusing for her to handle. "Arg! I'm too confused! This
is just too much to handle- I need more time!"
She quickened her sweeping of leaves and feverishly wished for
others to hurry up.
* * *
"Amazing... This is incredible. I didn't think it was possible to
switch your bodies like that." Artemis admitted.
"Actually, I'd say more of switching souls between the bodies, but
yes you could say that." Ami smiled faintly, trying her best to keep her
newly replaced pigtails from sweeping across her face.
"And you still have no idea how it happened?" Luna interrupted,
but Ami shook her head. She sighed, "This is going to be hard for us to
deal with..."
"No kidding." Makoto cracked a smile.
"All right, why don't we start over one more time? Maybe we're
missing something. That's what Minako is doing right now, over at the
lake. She's searching for some possible clues that might hint at how it
happened."
Ami sighed again and sat down beside her friend Usagi, still
feeling bit awkward as she was aware that she was sitting beside her
real body, instead of being in it. After few minutes of hard
concentration, she finally spoke.
"I already had talked with Usagi here about this, but between both
of us, there's not much we can recall about what happened last Saturday.
What we *can* remember was that we were walking from a ice cream store
that Usagi had insisted upon visiting after school when we heard a
scream nearby. We quickly ran to the source and spotted someone
assaulting a young person. I thought this person was another Cardian, as
noted by the recent new arrival of new enemy, so we prepared to
transform for a fight."
"But you later reported that it wasn't a Cardian, right?" Artemis
inquired.
Ami nodded, "That's right, by the time we attacked, I realized
that this attacker had seemed somewhat familiar, and did not follow the
usual activities we had noticed in Cardians. When our enemy returned our
attack, I recognized his uniform; he was- is one of the Generals of Dark
Kingdom. He even introduced himself as General Kyanite, whom I had never
heard of."
"But how is that possible? When we destroyed Queen Beryl, along
with her headquarters in North Pole and all Dark Kingdom related
activities ended abruptly, we assumed--" Luna trailed off in
realization.
"That's right we only had *assumed* that Dark Kingdom was
destroyed. It could be possible that there could be some survivors.
Also, it hasn't been long since Usagi... Princess Serenity had made that
wish, so they're probably still disoriented, but they could appear any
time. Like General Kyanite."
Luna shook her head, "This is not going to be good, we already
have our hands full with Cardians, and now we've got to cope with random
attacks from the survivors of the Dark Kingdom?"
"To make things worse, we still don't know where to start with
your situation." Artemis nodded at Ami and Usagi, in their opposite
respective bodies. "Please go ahead, Ami."
"Nani? Oh, gomen. Well, I don't remember much, except fighting the
General. The fact that he was a General caught us by surprise, and he
quickly attacked us before we could recover. We barely avoided his
attacks and I quickly dispatched an emergency call to you guys. It
happened so quickly that next thing I remember was that we had retreated
to a nearby lake for more space..."
"And that's where we found you." Makoto spoke quietly.
"That's all we remember. Next thing I remember was waking up at
the hospital room, and you know what happened afterwards. I'm sorry, but
that's all we can recall." Ami shook her head sadly and turned to her
friends, "What happened to us?"
"I was hoping you would tell us..." Luna whispered sadly. "When I
saw what had happened, I nearly had heart attack. I don't want to go
through that ever again."
Usagi, who had remained silent, staring at her skin (or more
accurately, Ami's skin) which was paler than she was used to, finally
could not stand it anymore and spoke. "Please tell me, what happened?"
"Usagi-chan..."
"Luna, please tell me!"
"All right, as much as it pains for me to tell..." Luna began, but
Rei interrupted her.
"You should take a break. I'll tell them what happened. Usagi..."
Rei swallowed twice before she spoke. "We were so scared that day, when
we found you and Ami-chan unconscious. I was afraid of what had happened
to you, I mean, we should have come sooner but we were several miles
away from the lake when we received your call. We ran as quickly as we
could. Then we heard an enormous explosion and saw a smoke bellow above
the area where you had reported from. We feared the worst."
Makoto added quietly, subdued. "However, when we reached the lake,
there was numerous patches of small fire and it was quite some time
before we finally found you floating face-up near the shore." She
shuddered at the thought.
"We panicked and rushed to help you. I mean, you were barely still
alive and your pulses were weak. We quickly did CPR- I never thought I'd
be grateful for that classes I took at my school- but you were still
unconscious. A minute later, several emergency vehicles reached the
scene, and an ambulance was quickly dispatched for us. Luna and I
protested against this because I didn't want to risk revealing exposing
ourselves."
"But I ignored her and carried you, er Moon's body and Venus
grabbed Mercury's into the waiting ambulance. Mars and cats climbed in
too, though we had to force them in. We took off quickly, and the
paramedics soon brought your pulse back to normal by the time we reached
the nearest hospital, but you were still unconscious. Later, it turned
out that you two only had minor concussion, and had nothing serious."
"Which was very fortunate, because from what we've heard on the
news, you could've been killed."
"But what happened? What caused the explosion?" Ami interrupted.
Rei gestured to the city around her temple, "It's still unclear,
but it seems that during the battle, an underground gas pipeline was
ruptured and something, probably electrical sparks, ignited the spilled
gas. The explosion must've blown you and the General away because after
the explosion we heard nothing more. We, did however, catch a glimpse of
Kyanite escaping when we reached you. We were more concerned about you
so we let him go for now, but Minako tried to trace him after your
condition stabilized that afternoon. No success, so far."
Artemis added, "However, we found out that Kyanite also had been
injured in the explosion as well, because we found a faint blood trail.
Minako and I tried to follow it to his hiding place, but the trail
vanished before we could locate his hiding place."
"So, we're back at step one again." Ami sighed. "What are we going
to do? I mean, we don't know what happened to us and how to reverse it,
assuming that it is still possible to do so."
"Honestly?" Luna drooped her head, "I think there's nothing we can
do. Not at this moment..."
Silence followed the exchange, and Ami found it increasingly
uncomfortable so she absentmindedly picked up the nearest book and began
reading it, hopefully to help her forget about her situation.
Unfortunately, she was so engrossed in her thoughts that she did not
realize that she was reading a manga until Rei's outburst, "USAGI!"
"Nani?... oh my..." Ami blushed faintly as she realized what she
had been reading. She desperately wanted to throw the book away, to
cleanse herself from the humiliation of reading a comic book instead of
novels... only if the manga she had been reading wasn't so interesting.
Something about three girls who were whisked to another planet and faced
with the destiny of becoming magical knights... It certainly was an
interesting notion, she wondered why she had never bothered to read
about it before. How odd, one of the characters seemed to resemble
herself...
Deciding to ignore her inner conflict and intrigued, she continued
reading the book, despite Rei's anguish over a Usagi who was really Ami
reading a 'graphic novel' that the schoolgirl had always refrained from
reading. However, it was during this period which a certain blue-haired
girl choose this opportunity to sneak out and grabbed a couple of manga
from Rei's secret stash. Thunderous laughter followed, and poor Rei was
dumbfounded about what to do with two girls reading her private
collection of mangas.
* * *
"But I don't want to do this!" Usagi complained loudly, but Luna
reminded her.
"I know, but you have to *pretend* to be Ami until we can figure
out how to reverse the switch."
"But I want to go to my home!"
"No! You can't!" Ami cried out, horrified. "You'll only make
things worse."
Luna sighed and explained things to Usagi for the third time, "I
know you want to go home- you really miss your family, but you *can't*
go there! Have you forgotten that you're not in your body anymore!
Everybody else, including your family will think you're Ami, not you."
Ami nodded, "We don't know how your family will handle if an Ami
suddenly appeared at their house, shouting 'Mommy, Daddy! I'm home!',
Usagi. How can we explain this situation to our parents?"
"It's already bad enough that you've switched your bodies, but we
don't want to create panic among your families anymore than we've
already done with your 'disappearance' after last Saturday. Just *try*
it, please?" Luna begged, "Just for few days until we can fix this?"
"But what about my Mommy?" Usagi persisted.
"Don't worry, just like we agreed- you try and pretend to be me,
and I'll pretend to be the Usagi your family knows." Ami reassured her.
"Well..."
"Don't worry, it won't be that hard. All you have to do is stay
calm and try reading some books," Ami winked at her, "And of course do
some studying."
"But I HATE studying!"
The trio broke off laughing for few minutes before they went
silent. Despite the levity of their current situation, they knew that it
was the only thing to do. Even Rei and Makoto had agreed to it, albeit
reluctantly when their meeting concluded. They continued to walk in
silence until they finally reached the Mizuno residence.
"Hai, I guess I'll do it." Usagi hesitated at the door and looked
back at Ami, still uncomfortable about seeing herself as Ami. "Here goes
nothing..."
With that, she knocked on the door lightly and stepped back. The
door opened and revealed a woman, whom Usagi recognized as...
"Ami! Why, you're back at last! How I've worried about you!" She
realized that there was another person nearby, "Oh gomen-nasai, Usagi.
Forgive my outburst, it's just that I've been worried about my dear
Ami..."
Ami quickly poked into Usagi's side, prompting her to do her part.
"It's okay, mo-o-omm!" Usagi nearly choked at the last word.
"Ami, what's wrong? Is your throat still sore?" Ami's mother put
her hand against her daughter's forehead.
"Really, mmmother. I'm fine. It's... just that- um," Usagi was
becoming nervous now, she did not feel comfortable pretending to be Ami,
calling out her as her own mother. She wanted to get over with it. Then
Ami whispered a suggestion into her ear. "I'm feeling bit tired. Yeah,
tired after that sleep-over."
Ami nodded, adding cheerfully, "We've had so much fun that we're
exhausted!"
"Right. I need some rest." Usagi sweated slightly as Ami's mother
regarded her. "Um, can I come in?"
Ami's mother blinked and spoke cheerfully, "Oh! Gomen-nasai,
hurry and come in. Won't your friend come in too?"
Usagi turned around to face Ami with hope. The hope was dashed
quickly as Ami forced words out of her mouth. "No, gomen. But I've got
to go and see..." Ami swallowed, "See my family. They're worried about
me too."
"I understand. Please take care of yourself, Usagi."
"Um, can I ask of a favor? Can my cat Luna stay with you for short
time?"
Usagi quickly bubbled, "Oh yes! Please? Can Luna stay with me?
Plueezeee?" She quickly jumped with joy when Ami's mother agreed.
Ami remembered to smile and thank her mother. "Arigato! I've got
to go, see you tomorrow, Usa-- Ami-chan..."
"Uh, right. Arigato, Am-- Usagi-chan." Usagi smiled nervously,
holding to Luna.
Ami nodded and watched silently as her own mother unwittingly shut
out her own daughter out of her home. She knew that her mother would
never forgive herself for what she had done if she ever found out about
the truth.
It was of necessity, but she already hated herself for lying to
her own mother, tricking her into thinking that she was Usagi, not
herself. The Ami that now resided in her home was an imposter. She felt
cold of all the sudden.
Ami sighed heavily and hoped that this fiasco wouldn't last long.
She turned around and departed for a house that she did not call home.
She glanced back just in time to see Usagi impersonating as Ami, staring
back at her through the windows with sadness, then left.
Usagi's face fell as she watched her friend leave. She could see
that Ami was in pain, and that she was causing it. It was all her fault
that it had happened. Ami should be here, not her.
Luna must have realized what Usagi had been brooding about because
she tried to reassure her. "Usagi, it's not your fault. It's only an
accident that we can fix up, somehow..."
"But it's not fair! I don't belong here at all- I shouldn't have
come!"
"You HAD to, since you're in Ami's body. How do you think we will
be able to explain the truth to your parents?"
"I know they'll understand, I know!"
"No! We can't--" Luna quickly shut her mouth shut. Usagi didn't
catch on.
"What's the matter, Luna? Why not? I want to be back home--"
"But you are at home, Ami."
Usagi jerked to her 'mother', caught by surprise and stuttered,
"Ms-s Mizuno! I mean, *mom*" Usagi put emphasis on the last word, as if
correcting herself.
Ms. Mizuno regarded her daughter warily, inclining her head to one side.
"Ami..."
"Um, yes?"
"Is something troubling you, dear? You seem awfully distracted..."
"Nani? I'm fine, mmom..." Usagi gulped.
Ami's mother shook her head gently, trying to clear up her nagging
conscience. "You seem bit different this time. You were usually were bit
demure, but I've noticed that you're bit more moody and talkative now.
Has something terrible happened to you? I can help you..."
<Well, yeah, your daughter, Ami just had her soul sucked out of
her body and dumped into my body, and same thing happened to me too-
except that I ended up in your daughter's body. That about explains it
all?> Usagi thought darkly, but instead answered, "No, I'm okay. It's
that too much has been going on for me over the last few days. I
*really* need some rest."
"Are you sure?" Ms. Mizuno persisted, but Usagi reassured her.
"I know I may be acting bit odd right now, but I'm telling you
that it's me, even though I may act funny."
"Why would you say that? I know it's you, my dear. I would never
mistake you for someone else."
Usagi quickly realized her mistake and backed off, "Ms.
Mizunuurgh, mmother, I didn't mean that way. I meant that--"
Unfortunately, Usagi never got chance to fix her mistake as she
inadvertently tripped over her feet and fell backwards. She failed her
arms around wildly and knocked a nearby lamp off the desk as she hit the
ground. The lamp blew out and broke into pieces.
Ms. Mizuno cried out and quickly rushed over to check her
daughter, cooing her. "That was a nasty fall, my dear. Are you hurt?"
Usagi rubbed the back of her head, "Owww!"
"Let me check it." She inspected the injury, "It's not bad. Only a
tiny bump. You'll be all right, Ami."
"Um, gomen. I didn't mean to break it. I'll clean up the mess."
Usagi apologized.
The mother smiled sweetly, yet concernedly, "That's okay, dear.
Honestly, you tripped over yourself. That's not normal of you... " She
giggled a bit, "Usagi must be rubbing off on you."
Usagi reacted as if slapped in her face. An enormous sweatdrop
appeared on her face as she stood up and waved her hands, dropping the
pieces of lamp. "No, that's no it! It's just that... I wasn't paying
attention, that's all!"
As she tried to cover up her embarrassment, Usagi's arms knocked
over a nearby vase which shattered when it hit the ground, much to Ms.
Mizuno's dismay.
"Oh, my father's vase!" Ami's mother wailed in anguish.
Unnoticed, Luna sweatdropped and muttered, "Even as Ami, Usagi's
still a klutzy girl."
"Oops, gomen! I'll clean up the mess!"
Usagi bent to pick up the shattered pieces, but Ami's mother
quickly stopped her, "No need to do that, my dear." She tried to smile,
despite her anguish over the valued vase she had received from her
father. "I think you're right- you seem tired tonight. Why don't you go
to your room and relax while I clean up the mess?"
"Er, sure." Usagi sweatdropped again as she rubbed the back of her
neck and stepped back. "Gomen nasai. I didn't mean to..."
Luna only sighed heavily as she leapt to follow Usagi.
"Usagi, you never cease to amaze me." Luna finally spoke as Usagi
and she stepped into Ami's room.
Usagi glared at the cat briefly then ignored her and gazed around
Ami's room. It was so *clean*, unlike her own room. Everything was
neatly stacked away and she could see books everywhere. There was also a
Macintosh computer, but of course Usagi did not know what it was as she
walked over to regard it in confusion.
Finally, Usagi found herself and exclaimed as she looked around
the room, "This isn't a bedroom, it's a classroom!"
Luna chuckled, "What did you expect, Usagi? This is Ami's room,
after all."
"I knew she was crazy about studying, but I didn't know she went
that far..."
"I know, but you should understand that Ami leads a life that's
different from yours. Both of you may be Senshi, but you share different
interests, and are also physically different."
"You know, when I think about it- you're right." Usagi dawned,
just as Luna made a face.
"And you didn't know?"
Usagi didn't hear the cat. She was too interested in herself, or
rather, Ami's body. She scurried around the room, and finally found a
small mirror on the desk near the computer. She studied her new body
with adoration. She noticed numerous difference from her original body.
Most obvious change was that she was slightly taller than usual,
which had taken some getting used to. She had been used to looking up to
Ami slightly because of her extremely short height, but when they had
their bodies switched around, she found herself *looking* down to her
friend. She knew that girls had growth spurts in young age, but not
*three* inches in *one* night!
Growth spurt wasn't her only change. She lacked her pigtails,
which she already missed. As Ami, it would take her months for her short
hair to grow long enough to have pigtails, and she didn't have ogondas
on her head either. Her skin was now paler than before. She continued to
gaze over her body.
Usagi blinked. She gazed at her chest, then patted them couple of
times, and blinked again. Her breasts were bigger than before.
Her face fell as she sat down on the desk chair and mulled over
her change.
She had been Ami's friend for long time, but she had never studied
her friend's body carefully, and compared her body against Ami's. Ami
had slightly bigger breasts compared to hers. It wasn't just fair! Her
friends were taller and better than her. She was nothing but a clumsy
little girl with small breasts. How could she compare herself to them?
"Usagi?"
How could she think of herself as their friends? Even as Sailor
Moon, she was nothing. She did not have any fancy powers like her
friends- she only had the Moon Haltation Rod, which only made fancy
sparks. No big bang.
"Usagi?!"
Some girl she was. She couldn't even stop herself from tripping up
or making a mess whenever she went. Even when she was now in Ami's body,
she continued to make same clumsy tactics that made herself known as a
klutzy girl. She just kept on tripping up and hitting everything! She
also couldn't even keep her Mamoru for long at all! When would her
misery ever end? She only wanted to be like am ordinary girl, with a
boyfriend and having dreams of marrying him. When will it ever end for
her?!
"USAGI!"
Usagi snapped out of her trance as Luna pounced on her face. She
stumbled off the chair surprise as Luna screeched at her and pointed to
Ami's computer, which began to emit warning sounds as the screen
flickered on and off.
Usagi realized that she must have been absentmindedly toying
around with Ami's computer and had somehow caused it to crash. "Um, did
I just do that, Luna?"
Luna just sweatdropped as the computer finally gave its final beep
and died. "Never mind- Ami'll fix it. Next time, please do not touch
anything." With that, she launched one of her lectures about
responsibility, which included not handling things without somebody's
permission.
Embarrassed, Usagi got up and sat on the bed, and tried to ignore
Luna's lecture by reading one of the nearby books. Unfortunately for
her, it was full of words. She threw away the book and picked a
different one. It was full of words.
She threw the book away in disgust and picked up another book.
All words.
She threw it and tried again with different book. All words again.
She repeated the cycle; she picked up another book, only to
realize that it was full of words, and threw it away. She tried again
with a different book. After repeated attempts, and making a small pile
of books in a corner of the room, she was already dizzy.
She finally gave up and tossed the book away and turned on her
back across the back in utter exhaustion. She wailed, "I don't like
this! I want my old body and life back!"
* * *
"Usagi! You're back!"
Ami blinked in surprise as Usagi's mother quickly embraced her,
snapping her out of her daze. Ikuko continued to gush over how she had
missed her, and Ami stuttered, "I-Ikuko-san?"
"Oh, Usagi. I've missed you so much! Next time you go on a sleep
over, please tell me how *long* you plan to do that, okay?"
"Nani? Oh!" Ami slapped herself mentally. She had been in trance,
thinking too much as she walked towards Usagi's home and obviously had
forgotten that she was now in Usagi's body. Which meant that Usagi's
parents would perceive *her* as their daughter. "Oh, gomen, mother. I
guess I've been thinking too much..."
Ikuko froze, and Ami slapped her mentally again. She was supposed
to *be* Usagi, not herself! It was already harder than it looked for
her. Fortunately, Usagi's father appeared, interrupting Ikuko.
"Usagi! About the time you're here, young lady! You've got some
serious explaining to do! You've worried us to death, lady!" Kenji
replied sternly, and Ami knew she was in trouble. If she could play this
act just right- she was all too familiar with Usagi's style of
persuasion with tears, so she quickly tuned around abruptly and
pretended to cry.
"Oh, Daddy! You're so mean to me! "
It worked as Usagi's father faltered, "Er, I didn't mean to be
mean to you, Usagi..." he laid a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry, but
you understand that we've been worried about you, right?"
"Y-yes..." Ami spoke slowly though fake sobs, relived that her
trick had worked. She didn't know what she would have done if it had
failed. At least Usagi's family believed that she was Usagi, which was
good enough for her.
Ikuko soothed Ami with her motherly tone, "It's okay, Usagi. We'll
let this... misunderstanding by for now, but please tell us next time,
okay?"
Ami's face brightened, "Really? Thank you, mother!" Usagi's mother
drew her into a hug, which she took part in uncertainly. She wasn't her
real mother, after all.
Ikuko immediately noticed Ami's discomfort and inclined her head
in puzzlement, this wasn't the hug she usually got from Usagi. She had a
nagging feeling that Usagi was somehow different, but then quickly
dismissed it as fatigue. After all, this was her daughter and there was
no way she would mistake her for somebody else. It would be hard not to
overlook her distinct hairstyle, wouldn't it?
"Come in, my dear." Ikuko smiled sweetly and led Ami into the
house.
What happened afterwards was almost sheer torture for Ami as she
struggled maintain her fake Usagi personality and not to let her demure
manner slip through. Now and then she would slip up, and spook the
family. She would realize her error and hastily make up some apology, or
cover it up with forced laughter, and so on until she found herself in
the kitchen almost an hour later, resting her head on the table. Ikuko
walked up to her and reassured her.
"You'll be okay, Usagi. I'll fix something for you to eat." She
smiled, "You'll feel lot better when you eat, just as usual."
"Arigato, but no." Ami apologized.
There was silence as Ikuko abruptly stopped her handiwork and
stared at her. Others blinked at her as well, and she felt
uncomfortable. "I guess I'm not hungry right now." She shrugged and
asked if she would be excused, stepping back.
"Um, that's okay. But are you sure you're NOT hungry?"
Ami shook her head and turned around, wanting to be alone. She had
been pushing herself too much in an effort to make herself passable as
Usagi without arousing the family's suspicions. Unfortunately for her,
having forcing herself too far in this ploy, she had overlooked a small
fold in a carpet, and tripped over it.
With a startled cry, Ami hit the ground face-first and pain hit
her. She heard laughter behind her, as Shingo cried out, "Now THAT'S
Usagi I remember!"
Ami did not listen to her as she struggled to push herself up,
mouth agape. She just knelt there and covered her mouth as the truth
dawned on her, "Owww..." She was more in shock rather than pain, as
though dawned on her. This was Usagi's usual lifestyle.
She had never really realized how Usagi had felt about being a
klutzy girl; Usagi was always tripping over everything, bumping into
something, or messing up. Yet, she always took it in stride, shrugging
them off as if it was nothing to her. Obviously it had hurt her, and Ami
did not mean physically. The fall Ami had must have been nothing
compared to Usagi- she had just experienced only a fraction of Usagi's
true lifestyle. Her heart went out for her friend.
"Hey, what's the matter, sis?" Shingo knelt beside her. "You
didn't break anything, didn't you?" He frowned, something was kinky
here; Usagi would usually wail whenever she fell and got hurt, but the
Usagi here was just sitting there with blank look on her face.
"N-no..." Ami shook her head to clear away her thoughts and heard
the doorbell ringing. Grateful for the interruption, she quickly got up
and opened the door, and realized that it was Minako. "Minako! I'm so
glad it's you!" She leapt and embraced her friend.
"Um, Usagi? What's the matter?" Minako stumbled under the weight
of her friend, and both hit the pavement.
"Nothing. It's just that I'm so glad to see a familiar face, if
you know what I mean." Ami smiled, then an idea struck her. She got up
and pulled Minako after her, "Come on! Let's talk in my room!"
Minako surrendered to her friend, knowing fully that it would be
fruitless to resist.
Moments later, Ami sighed heavily as she closed door; they were
now in Usagi's bedroom, and she felt a pang of guilt for entering
Usagi's bedroom without her permission.
Minako were presently occupied at this moment, trying to smooth
out her hair after Ami had dragged her to the bedroom, so she took this
opportunity to look around the room. Usagi's room was certainly
different from her own room, she noted. There were stuffed bunnies
everywhere. She could see pieces of clothing and mangas scattered across
the floor, and she knew that weren't placed there on purpose. "Usagi
definitely needs to clean up her room." Ami thought.
Ami sighed again and strolled over to a nearby dresser, and
spotted a small pile of Usagi's homework sitting on it. They weren't
done at all, not even barely. She shook her head; she would have to make
Usagi understand how important it was to study.
She picked off a good book from the pile and plopped across the
bed and began reading it, hoping studying would help take her mind off
her crisis for a while. She did not notice Minako, who had just finished
fixing up her hair, gaping at her in surprise.
"Um, Usagi? Why are you reading that book?" Minako asked
tentatively.
"I've got to study for the class tomorrow..."
Ami's absentminded reply shook Minako up, who had never seen Usagi
studying before. "Studying?! You're ACTUALLY studying?!" She quickly
went over to Ami and felt her forehead. "Are you feeling okay, Usagi?"
"I'm fine, Minako." Ami protested as she waved the blonde's hand
away. She eyed Minako carefully, "Didn't others tell you about what
happened?"
"What happened?"
Ami sighed and explained, "Have you forgotten that it's me, Ami?
We had a sort of disturbance that switched our bodies around..." She
trailed as she realized that Minako had a blank face.
"Um..."
"You mean others didn't TELL you?!"
Ami groaned as Minako shook her head stupidly. She quickly gave
brief details on what had happened over the last few days to Minako.
"So, it's what you think- I'm not Usagi, but Ami Mizuno. Usagi's now
inhabiting my body. Get it?"
Minako blinked in surprise and Ami leaned over in hopes of getting
though her thick skull until she finally spoke.
"Um, I'm confused- You just said that you're Ami-chan, right? Uh,
I don't know how to say this, but... I think you've been studying too
much, Usagi."
Ami crashed to the floor in shock.
She quickly recovered, though and screeched, "You STILL don't get
it?!"
"Oh, relax, I understand perfectly!" Minako smiled broadly.
"Really? I'm so glad..."
"...You must be very tired tonight, Usagi! Just take a rest and
you'll be fine in no time at all!" Minako continued cheerfully.
Unfortunately for her, Ami crashed to the ground again in shock.
When she got up this time, she didn't bother to correct Minako.
She had tried, but it didn't work. She doubted that it would work unless
Rei and others could back her claim. Minako was just as dense as Usagi,
sometimes even more. She gave an exasperated sigh; her body was
exhausted and she decided to leave Minako be until tomorrow. She needed
some rest.
She flopped on Usagi's bed, exhausted and scarcely noting the
pretty rabbit designs on the sheets. So much had happened since they
found out about the body switch, yet she could only dwell upon a single
thought, and that how she hadn't really realized it.
"How different Usagi and I am!"

An excerpt from the diary of Hino Rei:
"What am I going to do? I am very concerned about Usagi and Ami. I
know I've been worrying about them all the time, especially Usagi, but
this time it's different.
"Usagi and Ami has switched their bodies. I don't know how- so
don't ask me.
"Thank God they're still the same, even though they may have
different bodies now. I have no idea how I would have been able to
handle things if it was more than just bodies.
"But this is beside the point. What I am worried about is how will
Usagi and Ami be able to handle it? It's been hard on us and the cats,
but how harder is it for them? I can only imagine. What's more
distressing is that since we had decided to withhold the truth about
body switch from their parents, Usagi and Ami has agreed to pretend to
be each other.
"I can tell from Usagi that she is not very happy with it, and Ami
isn't either. Luna has reassured us that it would be only for short
time, but I don't believe her. I'm betting that she's thinking same
things I am thinking about; how are we going to cure them if we have no
idea what caused it in the first place? And is it going to be permanent,
or curable? The questions just go on.
"However, most importantly; how will this affect them mentally?
Usagi is taking the change rather hard. She's trying to hide her grief
behind her usual cheerful self, but I can tell that she's not taking it
well. I hope she can hold herself together.
"Ami's in pain as well, and she's trying to hide it by masking it,
as usual. She won't open up to me or others. She does not realize that
by buttoning up her emotions only makes things worse for her. But she
certainly seem to be handling it better than Usagi is, from what
happened this morning.
"But how long can they keep it up? I know that it won't be long
before they lose their sanity and identity. I'm afraid that they might
go crazy. All more important that we quickly find a way to fix them!
"However, as for what caused the switch, we have no idea how. I
even consulted the sacred flame, and found nothing out of ordinary,
except for the new evil presence which I barely recognized as General
Kyanite's. Sadly, I was unable to get more out of the flames than that.
I'll have to consult the flames again tomorrow. I have to help and find
way to restore Usagi and Ami.
"I can't bear to see them in pain, of being separated from their
families and their identity switched. I will do my best to help my best
friend and Ami. But even I am not sure if I can help her.
"I can only pray to Kami that Usagi and Ami can hold themselves
together long enough for us to find a way to cure them.
"I will pray for them with all my heart, because I don't want to
lose them."

Author's Notes:
Well, the second chapter's done and posted. To tell you truth, I was bit
disappointed that I did not get any replies to the first chapter, which
I posted few weeks ago. All I can say is that I've already planned
things out and the next chapter is already complete. Overall series is
about 53% complete.
I assure you that this story won't be very long. I've planned a total of
nine parts, including the epilogue. Each part will not total over 35K,
because I want to make each chapter short as possible for you to enjoy.
Chapter Three will be posted in few weeks, but I have to get started on
four. I can't guarantee that I'll have it completed, because even I have
real life to attend to.
