Sorry, got the story wrong. It's the skiing trip that Madoka and Hikaru and
Akane and Kyosuke and Kazuya all take together. Wideban 3. It contains
this scene:

Kyousuke: [flashing with the Power] (Th-that's it! Teleport.)

   [But nothing happens...]

   narration: Wh-why can't I use the Power?!

Kazuya: [crackling with the Power] (Sorry. My Power
is just a bit superior to yours, oniichan!)

Took a while to find this...

1) Kazuya boasting his power is greater doesn't necessarily means it's true.
Kyosuke almost never practices or pushes his powers. Skill can let someone
weaker pin someone stronger, and I never debated Kazuya's superior skill or
experience.
2) OK, even if I did allow that Kazuya is stronger (and more skillful and
experienced) than Kyosuke, that doesn't make him stronger than *6* other ESPers.

The dentist story contains the line where Kyosuke calls Kazuya "a very
powerful ESPer".

What Kyosuke's not mentioning is that he's a pretty strong ESPer as well. He
just rarely thinks of himself in those terms.

Those are the manga references I used to paint Kazuya as being quite strong
in the Power. And keep in mind he was six years old in the above scene. I
think he would only get stronger as he grew up.

Why didn't the other ESPers (Manami, Kurumi, Akane) get stronger as they grew
up? If you're going to apply this logic to ESPer development, then you should
be internally consistent. OK, given that Kazuya was "only 6", sure, he'd
advance the most. But that doesn't explain him being *several orders of
magnitude* stronger that you attribute him to being. What's more, if he really
did "develop this much", then Kyosuke would be screwed power-wise. He would
have lost that final confrontation easily.

Again, the anime, but I thought that particular episode was
fairly close the manga. The critical part of that must have
been true though; the reason for the "Rouge" plot was her
seeing her father kissing a girl in the dressing room (or
so it seemed).

!!!

That's completely different from the manga. In the manga, Madoka's parents
want to move permanently to America and take Madoka with them. She runs
away rather than go along. Her father eventually gives in.

Hmm...now I'll have to go back and look at the manga again.

For what it's worth, the KOR OVAs (including "Rouge") have been available from
Animeigo for several years. If there's a comic or anime shop available to you,
it wouldn't take much to rent a copy.

Hanging around his apartment building at 4am seems a bit extreme to me. :)
But that's a matter of interpretation, I guess.

Are we still talking about the same scene? (the swings). The mood and dialog
between them to me suggests strongly that the only reasons Madoka really stayed
was that Kyosuke was there. If he wasn't, I got the impression she would have
left for America. I don't know if the manga was as specific, but in the anime,
there was an airline ticket and Japanese passport all set to go on Madoka's
desk.

Go to Animeigo's site. Even if you didn't sign for the LDs, they will be
selling extra copies of the taped TV series. Obviously most KOR fans are going
to tell you they liked the series, so my opinions are biased natch. I will say
this though; many of the faults you attribute to Matsumoto's writing (esp when
he gets too long) are handled better in the anime, even if the details are often
shortened (but of course opinions on this matter vary widely).
