Great ending- was expecting something else and felt something was
missing. I guess I didn't want the answers.
In a way, I would've liked it to end with the ambiguity and had Ranma
killed. In which in a subsequent epilouge you saw Akane (and maybe
Ukyou) talking about what cold hearted bastards the Hibikis are that
need to be killed to one person who agrees (friend/love of Sono) and
others who don't (friends and a love of the Hibikis). A way to continue
the circle of revenge, unsure who the villians really are.
Apparantly some people are seeing the Ranma at the end of IMBS as 'yeah,
I'm evil- ain't it cool.' And they were disappointed that this was the
result. But the Ranma at the end wasn't 'evil incarnate,' he was a
wounded animal. Did he kill Nabiki? Maybe he did. But remember Akane's
thoughts ater she thought she killed Mariko- she wanted Mariko's brother
to kill her. The same thought came to me when I read Ranma's words at
the end as they did not ring to me of I'm evil and I can do what I want.
What I, and apparantly Akane, heard was someone who wanted to be put
down and killed. Ranma was sick. He knew and everyone else did to.
Mariko wanted to put an end to his illness by blowing off his head,
Akane wants Ranma cured through proper treatment.
I never felt that there was any serious reason to doubt that
Ranma was a pathetic, dangerous monster in this series after the
cat.
Frankly I'm puzzled by the people who saw all this ambiguity
there. For me, there were no questions answered in the final
chapter except the obvious ones of who got to live, and how
Ranma would be disposed of.
I wonder whether Ranma knocked up Akane. There's a social
stigma for you.
I forget. Has anyone pulled the plug on Nabiki?
(Question- Why the hell didn't she? She has her chance and just because
a 'friend' asked her to stop doing what her life goal was she did?)
Well, the cops _were_ on the way and she accepted Koji's reasoning
that revenge has no point if you destroy your life in the process.
Besides everyone draws the line somewhere. I guess she drew the line
at killing someone she liked.
