The only evidence for this, AFAIK, is that Ryoga's parents have the same
problem.  But it's just as reasonable to assume that it's a family curse,
as that it's an inherited genetic trait.

Actually, given the tenor of the Ranma series in general, the "family
curse" explanation is MORE likely.
